As a gamer with a soft spot for both gaming and mystery-solving adventures, I am beyond excited about the upcoming CBS series, Watson! Having grown up reading Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels and solving countless puzzles within their pages, the prospect of a modern-day take on Dr. John Watson’s story is truly captivating.
Actor Ritchie Coster will appear in the upcoming CBS medical drama titled “Watson,” which is inspired by Dr. John Watson, the associate of Sherlock Holmes from Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels. The story takes place in modern times and incorporates elements from the stories set in the late 1800s.
The thirteen-episode series produced by Craig Sweeny, known for his work on Limitless, is set to debut on CBS on January 26, 2025, following the AFC Championship Game. It will also be available for streaming on Paramount+. Regular episodes will start airing from February 16. Sweeny penned the premiere episode and serves as the showrunner. Chestnut takes on an executive producer role, and Larry Teng directed the first two episodes.
Six months following the demise of Sherlock Holmes at the hands of their arch-nemesis Moriarty, Dr. Watson has returned to his medical career by managing a specialized clinic for unusual health conditions. However, remnants of his old life will surface again. In this updated scenario, Dr. Watson will employ his detective talents to unravel medical enigmas within a contemporary milieu. As Moriarty resurfaces, Watson must confront the ghosts of his past.
Morris Chestnut takes on the role of Watson, while Rochelle Aytes is cast as Mary, Watson’s former spouse who serves as the clinic’s medical director. Coster plays Shinwell Johnson, a reformed criminal now working in the administrative department at the clinic; this character was an informant for Sherlock and Watson in Doyle’s original stories. The ensemble also includes Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Inga Schlingmann, and Rochelle Aytes.
