Walking Dead's Michael James Shaw cast in season 2 of Peacock's Twisted Metal

As a fan with a knack for spotting emerging talent, I am absolutely thrilled about Michael James Shaw‘s latest ventures! The man who once declared, “Time to f**k $h!t up” on The Walking Dead is now set to bring his charm and grit to the post-apocalyptic world of Twisted Metal.

According to Deadline, actor Michael James Shaw, famously recognized for his part as Michael Mercer, the army general from ‘The Walking Dead’, has been selected for the upcoming season of Peacock’s post-apocalyptic action comedy series titled ‘Twisted Metal’.

At the 2023 The Game Awards hosted at the Peacock Theater in LA, it was revealed that streaming service Peacock (owned by NBCUniversal) has greenlit another season of the popular game Twisted Metal.

The show “Twisted Metal” was developed by the team behind “Zombieland,” specifically Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Michael Jonathan Smith. This series is inspired by the popular video game franchise of the same name, and its premiere on Peacock took place in the summer of 2023 to generally favorable critic responses.

The show features Anthony Mackie, who is also an executive producer, along with Stephanie Beatriz as the main characters, set to reappear for season two. Additionally, Joe Seanoa and Will Arnett will make another appearance, alongside newly announced cast members: Anthony Carrigan, Richard de Klerk, Patty Guggenheim, and Tiana Okoye. Shaw was introduced with Saylor Bell Curda and Lisa Gilroy in recurring roles. Previously from “The Walking Dead,” Chelle Ramos (known as Shira) appeared during the first season.

The initial season comprised ten thirty-minute episodes, each chronicling the journey of Joe Doe (Mackie), a chatty stranger with amnesia. His mission is to transport an enigmatic package through the barren post-apocalyptic landscape of America. Completing this task, with its contents undisclosed, could offer him a transformative experience. Alongside him, he teams up with Quiet (Beatriz), a resourceful car thief who wields an axe. Together, they navigate the perils of the open highway, encountering various ruthless outlaws and unusual characters such as Sweet Tooth (Seanoa and Arnett), a psychotic clown.

Season 1 of Twisted Metal is available to stream on Peacock.

MIchael James Shaw – Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist

Shaw is set to feature in Peacock’s crime drama titled “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” an eight-part series adapted from the podcast of the same name by Jeff Keating and Jim Roberts. This gripping show recounts the actual occurrences that transpired during the night when boxing legend Muhammad Ali made his comeback in 1970.

The narrative unfolds around two key characters: Chicken Man, a street-smart hustler, and Detective J.D. Hudson. Their mission is to unravel the mystery behind the most significant theft involving black communities, an audacious heist that took place at an extravagant post-party, which was graced by some of America’s wealthiest individuals.

In this show, Kevin Hart takes on the role of Chicken Man, as well as serving as executive producer. Dan Cheadle stars as Detective Hudson. Dexter Darden plays Ali, while Samuel L. Jackson, Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, and Chloe Bailey are also part of the cast. Shaw appears as a character named Lamar, and Jayson Warner Smith, who was previously Gavin on The Walking Dead, will also be seen in this series.

All eight episodes of Fight Night will premiere on Peacock September 5
