As a dedicated fan of captivating storytelling and exceptional performances, I am absolutely thrilled about Merritt Wever joining the cast of The Gilded Age for its third season! Her versatility as an actress, demonstrated through her diverse roles in shows like Walking Dead, Nurse Jackie, and Unbelievable, makes her a perfect addition to this historical drama.

Actress Merritt Wever, best recognized for her performances in “Nurse Jackie” and “Unbelievable,” is set to appear in the third season of the historical drama “The Gilded Age.”

The show, debuted on HBO in 2022, was developed by Julian Fellowes, known for Downton Abbey. He also pens the scripts and takes on an executive producer role. Known as The Gilded Age, this series is set amidst the prosperous 1880s in America and has been applauded for its accurate period costumes and remarkable lead actor performances.

The principal actors include Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Denée Benton, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Louisa Jacobson, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, and Blake Ritson. According to Variety, Wever, alongside Bill Camp, Leslie Uggams, LisaGay Hamilton, Paul Alexander Nolan, Hattie Morahan, Andrea Martin, and Jessica Frances Dukes, have been added to the cast for season 3’s ongoing narrative.

In “The Gilded Age,” we follow the journey of Marian Brook (Jacobson) as she navigates New York society in 1882. She finds herself immersed in the strange world of the new wealthy Russell family and the established old money van Rhijn-Brook family. The narrative delves into conflicts that arise between the upper class, the affluent African-American society, and the domestic workers. This time period is characterized by its extravagance and the vibrant Upper East Side social scene of New York City.

As a devoted fan of historical dramas who has immersed myself in countless stories set during America’s Gilded Age, I can confidently say that the trailer for season 1 of “The Gilded Age” promises an engaging and captivating exploration of this opulent yet tumultuous era. The series seems to masterfully weave together the intricate threads of wealth, power, and social upheaval that defined the lives of the rich and the poor alike during this period. With its stunning visuals, compelling characters, and intriguing plotlines, “The Gilded Age” is poised to transport viewers back in time and offer a fascinating glimpse into the complexities of life in 1880s New York City. I eagerly anticipate diving into this rich tapestry of history and can’t wait to see how the story unfolds!

In this exciting production I’m part of, I step into the shoes of Monica O’Brien, the long-lost sister of Bertha Russell (Coon). At a pivotal moment in the Russell family saga, I make my entrance on the stage. Meanwhile, Camp takes on the role of J.P. Morgan, an influential American financier who clashes with George Russell (Spector) over his vision for the railroad industry’s future. Lastly, Uggams brings to life Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, a renowned Black suffragist, adding depth and richness to our story.

Season 3 of The Gilded Age began filming in July 2024.
