As a seasoned gamer and avid fan of both television and film, I can confidently say that the upcoming series “The Day of the Jackal” is shaping up to be a thrilling addition to my entertainment rotation. The pedigree behind this production – with its stellar cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Lashana Lynch, and Eleanor Matsuura, among others – promises an exhilarating cat-and-mouse chase across Europe that I can’t wait to witness.
Actress Eleanor Matsuura has gained recognition for her portrayal of Yumiko in AMC’s The Walking Dead. In the upcoming season, she will grace our screens in the British show titled The Day of the Jackal, set to debut this fall.
The show is developed from Frederick Forsyth’s groundbreaking novel that was turned into Universal Pictures’ 1973 acclaimed film. Written and adapted by Ronan Bennett, who has previously worked on Michael Mann’s crime movie “Public Enemies” (2009), the lead director for this series is Brian Kirk, known for his work in “Game of Thrones,” “Luther,” and “Boardwalk Empire.
As a cunning and elusive assassin known only as the Jackal, I navigate the shadows, executing hits for those willing to pay top dollar. My latest assignment thrusts me into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with a relentless British intelligence officer, played by Lashana Lynch, who is hot on my trail. The chase takes us across Europe in a heart-pounding race against time. Meanwhile, my personal life becomes tangled when the beautiful Nuria, portrayed by Úrsula Corberó, enters the picture unaware of my true identity as the Jackal.
Matsuura will portray Zina Jansone but no information has been revealed about this character.
The ten-episode series titled ‘The Day of the Jackal’ is set to debut on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK on November 7th. The show will make its U.S. premiere on Peacock starting November 14th, with the first five episodes initially released; subsequent episodes will be aired weekly, culminating in a double finale on December 12th.

2022 saw her acting in the British dramedy titled “I Used to Be Famous,” alongside Ed Skrein and Leo Lang. This film is a must-watch as it promises to elicit laughter, tears, and applause. In this production, Skrein plays Vince, formerly of the famed boy band FNA Vinnie D. Despite being twenty years past his prime, he yearns for a grand comeback, which leads him to the streets of Peckham where he forms an unusual friendship with Stevie (Lang), a gifted autistic boy with rhythm. Matsuura takes on the role of Stevie’s concerned mother who watches cautiously as the unique bond between her son and Vince deepens.
Matsuura is recognized not only for her portrayal of Epione in ‘Wonder Woman’, ‘Justice League’, and ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’, but also for her extensive voice acting work.
