As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating through the labyrinth of pop culture, I can confidently say that Austin Nichols is a familiar face I’ve encountered more times than I care to count in my virtual world! His roles in One Tree Hill and The Walking Dead have been staples in my binge-watching sessions. Now, he’s stepping into the terrifying waters of I Know What You Did Last Summer – a franchise that’s been a rollercoaster ride of suspense since 1997!

Actor Austin Nichols is recognized for playing Julian Baker in “One Tree Hill” and Spencer Monroe on “The Walking Dead.” According to recent reports from Deadline, Nichols has secured a role in the upcoming fourth movie of the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” series.

In a thrilling turn of events, I’ve learned I’m part of the stellar cast for the upcoming film! Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and Gabbriette are the latest additions to our team. We join forces with Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Haur-King who were announced earlier. It’s exciting to know that Freddie Prinze Jr. will be reprising his role, and there’s even a buzz that Jennifer Love Hewitt might make a comeback! Can’t wait to see how this unfolds on set!

Back in 2014, Sony Pictures initially intended to produce a fourth film, but it never materialized. However, in February 2023, the project was revived, and by March 2024, the release date for the movie had been set as July 18, 2025. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will direct the film, with Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson working on the script based on a previous draft written by Leah McKendrick.

The initial movie within the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” franchise made its debut in 1997. It was inspired by Lois Duncan’s book of the same name, though it didn’t strictly follow the novel’s plot. This film featured Freddie Prinze Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe as a group of friends involved in a fateful accident. They later reconnected only to be pursued by a psychopath wielding a hook.

In the follow-up film titled “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” (1998), Prinze Jr., Hewitt, and Muse Watson reappeared in their original roles, now joined by fresh faces such as Brandy, Mekhi Phifer, Bill Cobbs, Matthew Settle, Jennifer Esposito, Jack Black, Jeffrey Combs, and John Hawkes. The narrative unfolds a year after the first movie’s events, with the characters traveling to The Bahamas where they are once more stalked by a menacing killer.

In the year 2006, an independent film titled “I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer” hit video shelves as a separate sequel. The movie features Brooke Nevin, David Paetkau, Torrey DeVitto, Ben Easter, and stuntman Don Shanks in the lead roles, with Shanks portraying the Fisherman. This tale revisits the mythology from previous movies but introduces new characters who venture to Colorado and find themselves pursued by a murderer.
