Walking Dead universe is heading to San Diego Comic-Com with Daryl Dixon & Dead City

As a long-time fan of The Walking Dead and a regular attendee of San Diego Comic-Con, I can hardly contain my excitement for this year’s event! It’s been a few years since we last gathered in person to celebrate our shared love for pop culture, and the return of The Walking Dead panels is just the cherry on top.

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), the most eagerly awaited pop culture gathering of the year, is set to take place soon at the San Diego Convention Center. The four-day event, scheduled for July 25 to 28, signifies a return to normalcy after the disruptions caused by the pandemic in recent years. Notably, the universe of “The Walking Dead” will make a strong presence with panels dedicated to two spinoffs: “Daryl Dixon” and “Dead City.”

since its inception, The Walking Dead has utilized Comic-Con San Diego (SDCC) to initiate new seasons, usually airing in the fall. This summer gathering offered an ideal platform to generate buzz and ignite fan anticipation for the forthcoming season. The first TWD presence at SDCC took place in 2010, preceding the show’s October debut. The initial panel featured AMC executive Joel Stillerman and producers Greg Nicotero, Gale Anne Hurd, and Frank Darabont. In the second part of the panel, Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, and Emma Bell were unveiled as series cast members.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel my heart racing as I scroll through the recently unveiled lineup for SDCC 2024. The anticipation is palpable within the community, and I’m thrilled to see so many beloved franchises gracing the event this year. Among the highlights that have caught my attention are:

On Friday, July 26 from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m., Hall H will host a panel for “The Walking Dead: Dead City.” This event will be led by Chris Hardwick, the Talking Dead host. During this session, they will unveil details about the upcoming second season of the show, which is predicted to air in 2025. In addition, an exclusive sneak peek will be shared, and the following individuals are anticipated to attend: Eli Jorné (showrunner and EP), Scott M. Gimple (TWD CCO and EP), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Gaius Charles (Perlie Armstrong), and Željko Ivanek (The Croat). Notably, Cohan and Morgan are also serving as executive producers for this project.

On Friday, July 26 from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., Hall H will host a panel for “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” with moderation by Chris Hardwick. During this session, they’ll discuss the upcoming second season, titled “The Book of Carol,”, premiering on AMC and AMC+ on September 29. The panel will include showrunner and executive producer (EP) David Zabel, co-creative director and EP Scott M. Gimple, director and EP Greg Nicotero, along with Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier), and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi (Laurent). Reedus and McBride both serve as executive producers for the series.

The young actor Scigliuzzi, who plays Laurent – a fresh character Daryl interacts with in France – announced on Instagram his excitement for upcoming filming, expressing, “I can’t wait to see you all there! This is going to be such a blast.”
