As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for binge-watching gripping narratives, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming series, “His & Hers.” Jon Bernthal’s versatile acting prowess, coupled with Tessa Thompson’s captivating presence, promises an enthralling tale of suspense and intrigue.
Jon Bernthal, both an actor and podcaster, has just received his first Emmy award for his outstanding performance as Mikey in “The Bear” on HBO. In the near future, he will once again step into the shoes of Frank Castle/Punisher for the Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again,” scheduled to premiere in March 2025. Excitingly, Netflix has revealed that Bernthal and Pablo Schreiber have been chosen to star in a new suspenseful production called “His & Hers.
Actress Tessa Thompson, known for roles in Creed and Thor, will both produce and star in a captivating and enigmatic psychological thriller titled His & Hers on Netflix. Based on Alice Feeney’s book of the same name, this six-part limited series is written and overseen by Dee Johnson (Fellow Travelers, The Good Wife, ER), who will also serve as an executive producer alongside Jessica Chastain. William Oldroyd (Eileen) is set to direct the first episode.
The narrative kicks off in Atlanta, where Thompson’s character, Anna – a news anchor who used to be quite sociable – has withdrawn from friends and her job. Upon returning to work, she encounters news from her hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia about a murder. As a field reporter, she is tasked with covering the story, which brings her back into the fray, focusing her efforts on unraveling the mystery. This renewed involvement stirs suspicions in local detective Jack Harper, as it disrupts his life and ongoing investigation.
In this new role, Bernthal will portray Jack Harper, who’s recently reunited with his estranged wife Anna in their small north Georgia hometown. Their history is tainted by sorrow and deceit, creating a heavy burden on their relationship. After losing his job at the sheriff’s office, Jack took a new position in town, but his latest case has left him unsettled, and Anna’s arrival only adds to his troubles. Despite being a decent man, Jack frequently struggles with choosing the best course of action.
In the new production, actor Schreiber (known for his roles in ‘Halo’, ‘Den of Thieves’, and ‘Orange Is the New Black’) will portray Richard, who is the top cameraman at WSK TV News and is married to the popular news anchor Lexy Jones. When she took over from Anna during her absence, Lexy became a household name. To cover the ongoing murder investigation in Dahlonega, Anna recruits Richard to join her.
Production for His & Hers will begin in the fall of 2024.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m recognized for my performances in various roles. I played Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead, Brax Wolff in The Accountant, a part I’ll be reprising soon, and Baltimore Police Department Sergeant Wayne Jenkins in the HBO series We Own This City.
