As a gamer with a keen eye for both the digital and real-world scenes, I must say that the news of Dan Fogler’s upcoming roles is nothing short of exhilarating! With his impressive resume spanning from the small screen to the silver screen, it’s no surprise that he’s been cast in the highly anticipated USA Network series, The Rainmaker.
Dan Fogler, a Tony Award-winning actor, podcast host, and comedian, has landed his latest job. Renowned for his exceptional work in movies like “Eric” and “Balls of Fury,” as well as the “Fantastic Beasts” series, Fogler also graced our screens as Luke on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” during seasons 9 to 11. According to “Deadline,” Fogler’s upcoming role will be in the USA Network’s TV show “The Rainmaker.
Michael Seitzman will oversee and co-produce the Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television series, which is an adaptation of John Grisham’s novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s film. This project has been in development for six years, with Seitzman wanting to bring the story to television. He wrote the pilot episode along with Jason Richman, and all five will serve as executive producers, alongside Jason Blum and David Gernert.
As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that “The Rainmaker” signifies the USA Network’s debut in a lineup of upcoming original scripted series, marking their strategic comeback and repositioning as a premier destination for captivating television content.
The narrative revolves around Rudy Baylor, a freshly minted lawyer, who encounters Leo Drummond, a formidable courtroom figure, and Sarah Plankmore, his former law school companion. In their professional journey, Rudy, his supervisor, and Sarah’s legal assistant stumble upon intricate conspiracies linked to the enigmatic demise of their client’s child.
In a new role, Fogler is set to portray Melvin Pritcher, a nurse harboring a shocking secret at the center of a grand conspiracy. He’ll be working alongside Milo Callaghan as Rudy, John Slattery as Leo Drummond, and Madison Iseman as Sarah Plankmore. Lana Parrilla has been added to the cast as Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone, while Deck Shifflet will be played by J.P. Byrne, and Robyn Cara takes on the character of Kelly Riker.
In the year 1997, renowned filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola transformed John Grisham’s novel “The Rainmaker” into a motion picture. This movie features an impressive cast that includes Matt Damon, Claire Danes, Jon Voight, Mary Kay Place, Mickey Rourke, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Roy Scheider, Virginia Madsen, and Teresa Wright in her last screen role. The adaptation garnered favorable critiques and currently boasts an 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Dan Fogler – upcoming roles
Come October, I’ll be stepping off the silver screen and back onto the stage. There, I’ll take on the roles of Michael E. Uslan in “The Boy Who Loved Batman” play, and Albert Grossman in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown.” Timothée Chalamet stars as the legendary singer-songwriter himself. It’s a fascinating role for me, as Grossman was not only Dylan’s manager but also guided many other iconic folk and folk-rock music icons throughout his lifetime.
In addition to his role, Fogler will be featured in “Verona’s Romeo + Juliet,” a musical set during the tail end of Medieval times, around 1301, which reinterprets Shakespeare’s classic tale of star-crossed lovers through contemporary pop music. The film is planned for release on Valentine’s Day, 2025.
In a Netflix original psychological mystery, titled “Eric“, Fogler acted alongside Benedict Cumberbatch. Additionally, he lent his voice to the animated comedy spy flick, “No Time To Spy: The Loud House Movie“, where he played the character Rufus Dufus.
