In the upcoming days, numerous intriguing films will hit various streaming platforms following their run in cinemas. Notably, two highly successful thrillers, Retro featuring Suriya and Thudarum starring Mohanlal, are scheduled for digital release on May 30th.
Suriya’s Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj
Suriya’s latest movie, titled Retro, made a significant impact at the box office. This film was directed by Karthik Subbaraj and featured Pooja Hegde as the main female character in a romantic action-thriller setting. It hit theaters on May 1, 2025.
Following its cinema premiere, the movie garnered praise from viewers. It amassed nearly 970 million Indian rupees in global box office earnings.
Compared to Suriya’s previous film, Kanguva, this one saw a noticeable improvement in its performance.
Now, you’ll be able to watch the movie on Netflix starting from May 30th. The collaboration with Netflix had been previously announced, and they have now disclosed the release date.
Mohanlal’s Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy
Contrarily, following the success of his preceding blockbuster, L2: Empuraan, comes another hit movie for Mollywood’s leading star, Mohanlal, titled Thudarum. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, this film made a strong impact at the box office shortly after its release.
In this new rendition, the Malayalam suspense movie starred Shobana as the principal actress, marking her reunion with Mohanlal following many years. Notably, the production quickly garnered significant success.
In terms of earnings, Thudarum brought in an astounding 2220 million rupees globally, all within the first 24 days after its premiere.
Thudarum will now be streaming on the OTT platform Jio Hotstar, from May 30 onwards.
