Despite Marvel Studios maintaining secrecy about the specifics of their upcoming Disney+ series titled “Vision Quest“, its showrunner Terry Matalas has shared some insights into where the story fits within the current Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline. During a recent conversation, he confirmed that the series will pick up where 2021’s WandaVision left off, with Paul Bettany leading the show.
Terry Matalas on where Vision Quest series starts from in MCU timeline
12 Monkeys co-creator Terry Matalas previewed White Vision’s storyline, explaining its relevance to the chronology of the upcoming Vision Quest series. Moreover, he hinted that the show will delve into the adventures of this synthetic superhero after his unexpected breakout from the Hex in WandaVision.
In a recent interview on The Sackhoff Show in May 20, the seasoned television producer stated, “The storyline has been clearly unfolded.” He continued, “At the conclusion of WandaVision, the initial Vision was reconstructed and militarized. Then, he experienced a moment of self-discovery and acceptance about his identity. Subsequently, he departed. The series Vision Quest is focusing on this character’s development and their journey.
Matalas’ comments about the storyline for Vision Quest provide the initial details for fans about the show’s plot. However, things have taken a different turn when it comes to the casting, as Marvel has confirmed that James Spader (Ultron) and Faran Tahir (Raza) will be part of the series. Interestingly, Raza was once the leader of the Ten Rings in Iron Man (2008), and even though their characters were assumed dead at the end of their previous MCU appearances, they are now reappearing in Vision Quest.
During his interview, Terry Matalas gratefully acknowledged being given the chance to oversee an exceptional project. Moreover, he emphasized his involvement in the production process. “It turned into a truly collaborative journey that’s been absolutely delightful,” said the seasoned television writer. “And it doesn’t require working with the most renowned studios. It’s been a truly enjoyable creative experience, and I believe we are crafting something truly unique.
At this moment, there’s no word yet from Marvel Studios on when we can expect the Vision Quest series to officially hit the screens.
