In the most recent Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo revealed updates about their virtual gaming platform. They’re launching Virtual Game Cards as a fresh method for organizing digital game collections on both the Switch 1 and Switch 2 consoles. This system allows users to control which games are playable on specific devices, and even share games with friends for a set period.
Digital Game Cards function similarly to physical cartridges with regards to flexibility, allowing players to move a card from one console to another as Nintendo demonstrates in their video. For an initial transfer, both consoles must locally connect, but this step is not required for subsequent transfers.
Members in a Nintendo Family Group can borrow games from each other. When a game is borrowed, the recipient gains full access to it, just like they own it themselves. However, only one game can be borrowed by a person at once, and this lending period lasts for a maximum of 14 days.
Starting this April, you’ll find Nintendo Virtual Play Cards accessible on both the Nintendo Switch 1 and Switch 2 systems. This addition is coming through an upcoming software update. Additionally, today’s Nintendo Direct brought some exciting news – more insights about Metroid Prime 4 and a fresh app for staying updated on all things Nintendo!
