As a longtime fan of gripping action thrillers and an ardent supporter of Viola Davis’ extraordinary talent, I am beyond excited for the release of “G20”! The prospect of seeing Davis portray a U.S. President kicking butt in this high-stakes global thriller is nothing short of exhilarating.
Having followed her career since her breakout role in “The Help,” I’ve witnessed firsthand the depth and versatility that she brings to every performance. This film promises to be no exception, as it combines the adrenaline-pumping action of my favorite films with a contemporary twist that resonates with our modern world.
Moreover, the ensemble cast is nothing short of impressive, with Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, and Elizabeth Marvel joining forces to deliver what I expect will be an unforgettable cinematic experience. The synopsis alone has me on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting April 10, 2025!
In a humorous twist, I can’t help but imagine Davis delivering a powerful speech as President Taylor Sutton while quoting her iconic line from “Fences” – “I’m a human being, and oftentimes I’ve loved myself so hard that it’s hurt.” Now that would be a sight to behold! Can’t wait for the release of “G20”!
The action thriller “G20,” starring Viola Davis, now has an announced release date. Amazon has disclosed when the movie is set to appear on their streaming platform, Prime Video.
When is the G20 release date?
The G20 movie, featuring Davis as the U.S. President, is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on April 10, 2025. In this film, the G20 summit is attacked, and the President must take action to respond.
Director Patricia Riggen stated, “In this movie, you’ll see Viola Davis like never before, displaying incredible action sequences on a global scale.” Riggen aimed to create a traditional, pulse-pounding action film that reflects our current, high-tech world. She hopes to deliver an engaging and thrilling experience from beginning to end for the viewers.
With Davis, the star-studded cast for the G20 also includes Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, Clark Gregg, Christopher Farrar, John Hoogenakker, MeeWha Alana Lee, Theo Bongani Ndyalvane, Conrad Kemp, Joseph Steven Yang, Emmanuel Castis, David James, Noxolo Dlamini, and Gideon Emery. These actors will be joining Academy Award winner Viola Davis, who is set to portray the U.S. president in the production.
In the movie, following the G20 Summit being seized by terrorists, President Taylor Sutton is required to employ all her diplomatic skills and military knowledge to safeguard her loved ones, other world leaders, and undeniably, the globe itself.
The G20 movie will be led by director Patricia Riggen, from a screenplay penned by Noah and Logan Miller, with additional work done by Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss. Originally planned for filming last year, the production was postponed due to SAG-AFTRA issues. Despite securing an Interim Agreement, the filming didn’t commence after Davis decided not to act during the actors’ strike, standing in solidarity with fellow performers.
The movie is created by Davis and Julius Tennon from JuVee Productions, as well as Andrew Lazar from Mad Chance. This production is also supported by Amazon MGM Studios and MRC Film.
