It’s quite unexpected, but Vin Diesel recently used his social media platform to hint at possible updates concerning the upcoming fourth film in the Riddick series.

What is the latest update on Riddick 4?

Lately, Vin Diesel posted on Instagram a picture showing him as the character Richard B. Riddick from the movies, hinting at something new to come in the caption.

The news is surprising since we haven’t heard any recent news about a fourth Riddick film. Back in 2023, it was revealed that Vin Diesel and director David Twohy would be teaming up again for the fourth movie, titled “Riddick: Furya.” At that point, the film was said to be written by Twohy himself, who would also direct, marking their continued collaboration in the Riddick series.

2024 rolled around, and the chatter about Furya’s upcoming project was buzzing. I was eagerly waiting for the filming to start in August, but as the months passed, there was an eerie silence from their camp. No updates, no behind-the-scenes glimpses, nothing. It left me wondering if that project ever truly got off the ground.

Initially, Riddick goes back to his native planet, a place he barely recognizes and fears may be destroyed. However, upon arrival, he encounters other Furyans battling for survival against a fresh menace. Remarkably, some of these Furyans share striking similarities with Riddick that he never anticipated.

Initially launched as Pitch Black in the year 2000, this movie marked the start of the Riddick series. The story revolved around Richard B. Riddick, a criminal whose eyes were surgically altered, granting him extraordinary sensitivity to light. Although it didn’t make a significant impact at the box office initially, it soon garnered a devoted fanbase, resulting in two sequels: The Chronicles of Riddick (released in 2004) and Riddick (in 2013).
