Vin Diesel Begs Universal to Give Fast X: Part 2 a Release Date

Vin Diesel is begging Universal Pictures to give Fast X: Part 2 a release date.

In May 2023, Fast X made its way to cinemas across the United States. This marks the tenth movie in the primary Fast & Furious series, with Vin Diesel returning as Dominic Toretto. Currently, there’s a follow-up for Fast X being developed, but Universal has yet to announce a release date for it.

What did Vin Diesel say about the Fast X: Part 2 release date?

On Instagram, Diesel shared a picture featuring himself along with Michelle Rodriguez (known for her role as Letty in the franchise). His caption read: “Universal…Kindly inform the outstanding global fanbase about the release date of the upcoming film. Could you, please…

As an enthusiastic admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the mastermind behind Fast X, Louis Leterrier, is steering Fast X: Part 2 as well. Originally slated for a 2025 premiere, the film has been postponed due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, in a chat with Collider last May, Leterrier hinted that we can expect Fast X: Part 2 to hit the screens in 2026.

In February 2024, it was announced by Diesel that Fast X: Part 2 will serve as the grand conclusion for the series. At present, specific plot points are still kept confidential.

Beyond this, Diesel has hinted at an upcoming Fast & Furious spin-off short film titled Los Bandoleros 2. In a 2009 short film of the same name, Diesel, Rodriguez, Sung Kang as Han Lue, Tego Calderón as Tego Leo, and Don Omar as Rico Santos starred. The specific release date for Los Bandoleros 2 remains unknown, but Diesel did include a Los Bandoleros hashtag in his latest post.

At the moment, Fast X is available for streaming on Starz and Philo. The film’s ensemble also features Tyrese Gibson playing Roman Pearce, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges as Tej Parker, John Cena as Jakob Toretto, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Brie Larson as Tess, Jason Statham as Dante Reyes, and Charlize Theron as Cipher.
