Today, June 2, Director Vikram Sugumaran unfortunately passed away in Chennai due to cardiac arrest. As reported by The News Minute, he had been traveling from Madurai when he felt discomfort and intense chest pain. He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but sadly, the doctors couldn’t revive him. At the age of 47, Vikram Sugumaran took his final breath.

As a devoted admirer of cinema, I find myself deeply saddened by the loss of a fellow artist who was not only a talented filmmaker but also a cherished friend. To me, he was more than just a colleague – he was a dear brother with whom I shared countless experiences and learned invaluable lessons. The memories we created together will forever be etched in my heart.
Director Anandmurthy expressed his sorrow and posted on X, “I spoke with him just the day before! I can’t fathom his haste… He mentioned he was returning home but then sent me a message asking me to contact someone else!! Rest in peace, my friend Vikram Sugumaran.
Viji Chandrasekhar recently posted a heartfelt video, expressing disbelief at the premature passing of Vikram Sugumaran. Beyond just those in the movie industry, admirers have expressed their condolences and reminisced about the director.

About Vikram Sugumaran
Born in Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu, Vikram Sugumaran was a renowned Tamil film director, distinguished by his innovative storytelling methods. Driven by his passion for acting, he ventured to Chennai with dreams of making it big in the movie industry.
Firstly, Vikram started his acting career in Polladhavan, which was directed by Vetrimaaran. Later, he worked in Kodiveeran, under the guidance of Sasikumar. In 2013, he stepped into the director’s role with Madha Yaanai Koottam, a rural drama that received acclaim for its authentic backdrop and gritty narrative style.
In the year 2023, about ten years after his departure, he came back with Ravana Kottam, which starred Shanthanu. His last directorial project was Therum Borum, a movie focusing on the thrilling world of climbing and mountaineering. Vikram Sugumaran is mourned by his spouse and children who reside in Chennai.
