As an avid gamer with over two decades under my belt and countless consoles gracing my gaming room, I must say that this week has been quite the rollercoaster of emotions! The release of the PlayStation 5 Pro is both exciting and a bit disappointing. Exciting because it’s finally available, but disappointing due to its hefty price tag and lack of essential accessories like a stand or even a disc drive.
This week is packed with exciting video game updates! Let’s dive into the most anticipated piece of news first, as we all expected it to surface soon.
The PlayStation 5 Pro releases!
Indeed, the awaited mid-generation upgrade for the PS5 has arrived! Officially titled the PlayStation 5 Pro, it hit the shelves on November 7th this year. Unlike its initial release in 2020, you’ll find this upgraded model readily available at most retailers.
The product isn’t poor quality at all; instead, it represents a strong mid-generation upgrade for Sony’s current console. There are numerous games that have already been tailored for the PS5 Pro. However, the issue lies with its price tag of $700, which does not cover essential accessories like a disc drive or even a stand for vertical placement in your home.
Despite all the previous discussions, should you decide to pursue getting a PlayStation 5 after four years of waiting, the PS5 Pro could be an excellent choice for your gaming needs.
Stardew Valley 1.6 releases on consoles
Indeed, console gaming enthusiasts can now celebrate as Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update was officially rolled out on consoles (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox) on November 4th. This long-anticipated upgrade to the farming simulation game has been eagerly awaited by console gamers since its initial release on PC by Concerned Ape in March. Hopefully, this means that he’ll return to developing The Haunted Chocolatier soon.
In addition, we want to bring your attention to an issue in the game during its 1.6 update. When you initiate a fresh game with the new farm type that includes a chicken coop and two chickens, please resist the urge to open the coop door on day one. It seems there’s a bug where they can vanish, which is currently being addressed. I learned this lesson the hard way, so I urge you not to repeat my mistake.
Attention Farmers! There’s a problem right now: if you open the coop door on the first day when starting a new farm in the Meadowlands, your chickens might vanish. To prevent this, keep the door shut for at least one day. Don’t worry, we’re working to resolve this issue. As for the lore, there’s a roaming coyote on our farm at present.

Cult of the Bell
This isn’t really news, but a really funny and cute video that I stumbled on made by 64 Bits that combines Cult of the Lamb with Animal Crossing. It’s amazing.
Remedy is still making gains with Alan Wake 2
Progress may be gradual, but Remedy Entertainment continues to make sales with “Alan Wake 2.” In their latest report to investors, they revealed that the sequel is almost covering its production and promotional costs. Notably, it remains their highest-selling game. With the recent release of two DLCs and a physical edition (just in time for the holiday season), we anticipate these figures will continue to rise.
After all, it’s not a loop, it’s a spiral.

Microsoft November Game Pass Lineup
As a Game Pass subscriber, I’m excited to kick off my free games for November! Some top picks include the refreshed Goat Simulator Remastered, the classic strategy game StarCraft, and the day-one launches of Metal Slug Tactics and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Surprise! Death Stranding is now on Xbox
Surprisingly, on November 7th, Kojima Productions unexpectedly declared that Death Stranding is now playable on Xbox! Exactly five years after its initial launch on PlayStation 4! What’s more, it’s currently available at a 50% discount.
Nintendo Switch games will be backwards compatible on the Switch 2
But no, we still don’t know when the Switch 2 is coming out. This shouldn’t be surprising news either, as I feel like the entire internet would have revolted if we couldn’t play Switch games on the successor. They also announced that Nintendo Switch Online will also be available on the new console.
Which, yes, will be announced at a later date. Sometime before March 2025.
