As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for the peculiar and a soft spot for nostalgia, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and bewilderment as the gaming landscape unfurls before me. The news this week has been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least!
This week, video game news has been overflowing (it might not be the highest ever, but there sure is a lot of it!). Given our limited time, let’s dive straight into it without further ado.
Stellar Blade/NieR: Automata DLC
Absolutely, the collaboration DLC between “Stellar Blade” and “NieR: Automata“, which was hinted at during a State of Play event a few months back, has been confirmed officially! The release date is set for November 20th. This exciting crossover will also introduce the much-awaited photo mode in “Stellar Blade“.
If you haven’t given Stellar Blade a try, its narrative isn’t particularly noteworthy, and the voice acting can be less than impressive or even amusing at times. However, the combat is exceptional – it’s what truly makes the game engaging to play.
Shoresy the Game coming soon
It seems that a game titled “Shoresy the Game” is in development and will be released for PC and all consoles at some point. However, you won’t find any details about it online or on platforms like Steam as of now.
I discovered it at the Shoresy Fall Classic, where they played against the Detroit Red Wings alumni. “Shoresy” is a spin-off from the popular Canadian show “Letterkenny,” which revolves around a Triple-A level ice hockey league in Sudbury, Ontario. The brief clip displayed on the jumbotron didn’t reveal much, but it appears to be reminiscent of the old-school game NHL ’95, and it might earn a Mature rating due to the show’s nature. I suppose that there will likely be a fighting feature and possibly some trash talk or taunting as well, given Shoresy’s character… and teammates.

LEGO Horizon Adventures releases
How can you make Horizon Zero Dawn into a LEGO game? Well, they found a way and LEGO Horizon Adventures released this week on November 14! It’s getting pretty decent reviews and sounds like it’s a solid LEGO game to play and actually a pretty good truncated version of the original story.
Updates on gaming handhelds
This week, there were two separate announcements about portable gaming devices. Valve unveiled a new, white variant of their Steam Deck OLED device. While this version shares the same specifications as its OLED counterpart, it’s a remarkable handheld gaming system that makes your PC games easily accessible with just a few finger-tips. The release date for this white handheld is set for November 18th!
Microsoft has confirmed that they are indeed developing a handheld Xbox device. Just as Mr. Incredible might say, they’ll unveil it when it’s ready. It wouldn’t be shocking if portable gaming becomes the trend, but for now, we can only wait and see where technology leads us.
Official release date for Atomfall
During the past year, “Atomfall” was showcased in the PlayStation State of Play event, earning comparisons to “Fallout.” Recently, it has received a new trailer and an official release date. Mark your calendars for March 27, 2025, as that’s when you can get your hands on “Atomfall.
South of Midnight first looks
The team at Developer Compulsion Games shared a captivating documentary about their upcoming game, “South of Midnight.” This documentary, available on Xbox’s YouTube channel, drew our attention with its atmospheric Deep South backdrop and bluesy soundtrack. The video runs for approximately thirty minutes.
Additionally, IGN offers a comprehensive analysis of this title too, providing further details about its content. It appears as though it promises a stunning visual experience coupled with captivating audio featuring Southern folklore and exceptional blues and jazz music that complements the narrative.

Don’t worry, Zelda games will be both 3D and 2D
Given the triumph of “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” it’s natural to wonder if players still crave the classic gaming style amidst the presence of games like “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom.
Still, it’s nice to hear series producer Eiji Aonuma tell BBC News that there’s still room for both kinds of games in the Zelda series’ future.
