As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for cinematic brilliance and a heart for social justice, I find myself captivated by the raw talent and profound messages woven into TJ Gnanavel’s masterpieces, such as Vettaiyan. Having had the privilege of witnessing the transformation of Indian cinema over the years, I can confidently say that this filmmaker is a breath of fresh air, bringing forth narratives that challenge the status quo and spark meaningful conversations.
The blockbuster movie “Vettaiyan,” featuring Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and Fahadh Faasil, is doing exceptionally well in cinemas. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, it has surpassed the impressive milestone of Rs 100 crores in India, according to Sacnilk. Despite enthusiastic anticipation for a sequel, the filmmaker has disclosed his intentions for a prequel instead.
During a recent interview, I shared some insights about my upcoming projects. I expressed my fascination with the idea of developing a prequel to “Vettaiyan: The Hunter.” This potential project could offer a captivating look into Athiyan’s past, unveiling the steps he took to become an expert in encounters. It would also reveal Fahadh Faasil’s transformation from a thief into a police informant, and delve deeper into other intriguing aspects of the story’s history.
The acclaimed filmmaker revealed that he has always been troubled by the idea of encounter killings, often questioning the truth behind them.
He mentioned that the climax scene of Vettaiyan highlights this very point: “where we see the supposed encounter of red sandalwood smugglers turns out to be a tragic case of tree cutters.”
As a devoted follower, I’m sharing an insight from TJ Gnanavel: He uncovered a grim reality where it’s often the less fortunate who bear the brunt of such situations, while the affluent seem to evade them. Yet, he holds faith in India’s justice system, with all its imperfections, believing in its potential for change.
In addition, the director spoke candidly about his collaboration with Rajinikanth and recounted an instance where Rajinikanth’s daughter contacted him in search of a well-crafted screenplay.
TJ Gnanavel found it astonishing when the actor gave him complete artistic autonomy. He pointed out that despite Jai Bhim’s success, its appeal was more specialized. However, working with Rajinikanth required shaping a broader perspective to make sure worldwide viewers could relate to the film.
Discussing the movie “Vettaiyan”, it’s almost reaching the impressive milestone of 150 crores at the Indian box office. Alongside the main actors, this film showcases significant performances by Dushara Vijayan, Manju Warrier, and Rana Daggubati.
