Vetrimaaran shares insights on what he thinks about Dhanush’ direction in Raayan; Spills the beans on Vada Chennai 2

As a dedicated follower of Tamil cinema, I have been fortunate enough to witness the remarkable journey of talented individuals like Director Vetrimaaran and Actor Dhanush. Their collaboration on Raayan is a testament to their shared vision and passion for storytelling.

In a recent chat, filmmaker Vetrimaaran remarked that actor Dhanush is naturally evolving into a director, given his upbringing among directors. During an interview with Puthiya Thalaimurai, the director of Asuran stated this.

“His dad, as well as his sibling, are directors too. He’s quite a quick learner. Therefore, it seems perfectly reasonable that he might follow in their footsteps and become a director himself.” The speaker then continued by mentioning that Vada Chennai 2 is forthcoming, with Suriya starring in Vaadivaasal, which appears to be his next project.

Vetrimaaran expressed his viewpoint that movies don’t necessitate being produced to surmount language barriers. In a new turn of events, the movie titled “Raayan” sees Dhanush stepping into the director’s chair for his second time, following “Pa Pandi.” This film tells the story of a man named Kathavaraayan, more commonly known as Raayan, who owns a street food hotel in North Chennai.

As part of our close-knit family, which includes my siblings Raayan and others, I find ourselves unwittingly ensnared in the brutal feud between two warring gangs. Their hostility puts those we cherish most at risk. This harrowing experience has instilled a relentless resolve within me – a commitment to defend our loved ones at all costs, even if it means venturing into uncharted territories for justice.

The film features Dhanush playing the lead role, accompanied by a talented group of actors such as SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and several others in significant roles.

The movie garnered a mix of opinions from critics who appreciated most aspects of it, particularly its elements, but found issues with the second part and storytelling. Despite these criticisms, the film was a hit in cinemas and proved to be a box office sensation. Starting August 23, 2024, you can stream this movie on Amazon Prime Video.

Currently, Dhanush is working on his upcoming movie titled Kubera, which features himself alongside actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna. This production, helmed by director Sekhar Kammula, has piqued the interest of many due to sneak peeks into its characters.
