2018 saw the release of crime drama thriller “Vada Chennai,” directed by Vetrimaaran, which garnered widespread applause and recognition upon its release. Originally, this film was intended to be part of a trilogy with a prequel and sequel planned. However, as some time has passed, there appears to be no news on whether these additional installments are being produced.
At last, the director behind it, Vetrimaaran, has spoken up about the upcoming sequel to Vada Chennai with Dhanush. In a recent awards gathering, many eager fans and spectators inquired about any plans he might have for the highly anticipated film starring Dhanush.
In response, the filmmaker grinned and pointed out that merely mentioning Vada Chennai 2 would shatter the excitement surrounding the movie. He noted that it’s the constant inquiries about the progress of the Dhanush-led production that keeps the buzz alive.
Ultimately, Vetrimaaran has indeed verified that the film is currently being developed and we can expect it quite soon.
He mentioned that if they begin production on Vada Chennai 2, it wouldn’t generate as much excitement. The frequent questions and discussions about the movie only add to the hype. Production is set to commence shortly.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that aside from the current project, Dhanush has a number of other films in development. One of these is “Kuberaa” by Sekhar Kammula, set to be released in cinemas on June 20, 2025.
Additionally, the actor is also working on his upcoming directorial project titled “Idly Kadai,” where he will be joined by Nithya Menen. At present, he is engrossed in filming Aanand L Rai’s movie, “Tere Ishk Mein,” which features Kriti Sanon as his co-star.
Among the current projects he’s working on, there’s also the D55 collaboration with director Rajkumar Periasamy, as previously mentioned.
Dhanush is currently working on a biographical film about musical legend Ilayaiaraja, but as of now, there’s no set release date. Simultaneously, his directorial debut, the romantic drama “NEEK”, has been a box office success.
