As a dedicated follower of Malayalam cinema, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mohan Raj. His portrayal of Keerikkadan Jose in Kireedam was nothing short of legendary, and his antagonist roles in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films have left an indelible mark on the industry.
On Thursday, October 3rd, esteemed actor Mohan Raj sadly passed away at his residence, aged 70. As per The Indian Express’ report, Mohan Raj had been receiving care at his home in Kanjiramkulam, Kerala, due to several health issues.
As per the report, he was suffering from Parkinson’s disease and diabetes.
Parkinson’s disease is a condition that impacts both your nervous system and your ability to move, often causing tremors in patients. The symptoms may vary from person to person, but typically start on one side of the body before spreading to the other. Over time, the condition may worsen. This is a progressive disorder, meaning it affects the brain gradually over time. However, medications can be used to boost dopamine levels and help manage the symptoms.
After his sudden passing, people from different circles expressed their sorrow and sympathy on their social media accounts.
In simpler terms, “Mohanlal posted on his Facebook account, expressing in Malayalam that it is a special privilege for an actor to be identified by the characters they play. The esteemed Mohanraj, who portrayed the eternal character of Keerikkadan Jose in Kireedam, has passed away.
Reflecting on our collaboration in Kireedam back in 1989, Mohanlal reminisced, “It feels as if it were just yesterday when I saw his regal presence in front of the camera, portraying Sethu’s adversary. A heartfelt goodbye to my beloved friend who consistently embodied kindness and grace in his personal life.
