As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Venom: The Last Dance has truly impressed me. While its domestic box office numbers might have fallen short of expectations, its strong international performance, especially in China, is nothing short of spectacular. It’s a testament to the global appeal of the Marvel Universe and Tom Hardy’s captivating portrayal of Venom.
In just two weeks following its October 25, 2024 release, the movie “Venom: The Last Dance,” directed by Kelly Marcel and featuring Tom Hardy, surpassed the $300 million mark worldwide. Despite falling short of expectations in the domestic box office, it showcased impressive performances in international markets, particularly China. Recent debuts in France and Japan have contributed to its growing earnings overseas.
Venom: The Last Dance crosses $300 million at worldwide box office
In just its second weekend, the movie “Venom: The Last Dance” surpassed an impressive global box office benchmark, raking in more than $300 million worldwide, as reported by Variety.
At present, the movie has raked in roughly $317.1 million worldwide. Out of this total, it made $227 million from international markets and $90 million domestically. This third installment of Sony’s Venom series is doing well in major markets. It has substantial earnings in China ($70.6 million), Mexico ($13.4 million), and the UK ($11.9 million). Lately, it made its debut in France with $6.5 million and in Japan with $3.8 million, adding to its global earnings.
Alongside Venom’s success, Clint Eastwood’s Juror No. 2 opened with $5 million across six international territories. France led with $3.1 million. Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot added $15.7 million from 79 markets, bringing its global total to $269 million. The movie performed especially well in Mexico, the UK, and Australia.
Given a budget of $120 million, the movie “Venom: The Last Dance” is poised for a profitable run in cinemas, even if it doesn’t earn as much as its previous installments, Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). Its robust international performance, demonstrated by a relatively small 44% decrease in earnings during its second weekend, suggests strong foreign audience engagement, according to Deadline.
The final installment of this trilogy hints at possible growth within Sony’s Spider-Man universe, notably through the debut of Knull. This character brings an exciting new layer to the tale of the symbiotes.
