As a die-hard fan of Thalapathy Vijay and a proud Tamilian who bleeds blue for Chennai Super Kings, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions about Venkat Prabhu‘s recent revelations regarding The GOAT. On one hand, I’m excited that the extended director’s cut is coming to OTT platforms, which means more Vijay and his hilarious antics as young Gandhi! On the other hand, it’s a bit disheartening to hear that CSK references didn’t resonate well with non-Tamil audiences. But hey, we all know that MI & RCB fans can be a tad bit jealous of our CSK love, right?
The movie “The Greatest of All Time,” featuring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, is turning out to be one of the top-earning films of 2024. However, the final scene has received a divided response because it makes reference to the CSK team. Yet, director Venkat Prabhu has shared insights about the climax scene of “The GOAT” and its connection to the popular cricket team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
In a recent interview, Venkat Prabhu expressed that the ending of his film, which heavily referenced CSK, might not have been well-received by audiences beyond Tamil Nadu. He explained, “It seems that the ‘GOAT’ references related to CSK didn’t connect with Hindi and Telugu viewers. Since I’m a CSK fan, MI and RCB supporters often tease me about it, but my allegiance is deeply rooted.
Additionally, Venkat Prabhu shared his intentions to debut an extended, uncensored adaptation of Thalapathy Vijay’s movie “The GOAT” on online streaming platforms. The director’s original cut of “The GOAT” clocks in at approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes, significantly longer than the 3-hour theater version.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that the extended OTT release of this movie is rumored to include every chuckle-worthy scene that was left on the cutting room floor, particularly those involving Vijay’s younger character. Once the film wraps up its run in theaters, the creators plan to treat us with these unseen gems on their social media platforms.
If you haven’t seen The GOAT yet, it presents Vijay in two distinct roles; one as Gandhi, a member of the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS), and his son Jeevan. The movie concludes with an ambiguous ending that foreshadows the sequel, GOAT vs OG. The upcoming film is rumored to change the spotlight from the hero to the villain, hinting at the introduction of a new adversary, potentially played by Ajith Kumar, who has worked with Venkat Prabhu in the successful movie Mankatha before.
