Vedan’s Palakkad concert ends in chaos as stampede leaves 15 injured; here’s what happened

Hailing from South India, particularly Kerala, Vedan – the well-known rapper – has been garnering immense popularity. Last weekend, his concert took place at Palakkad Kotta Maithanam, drawing an enormous audience. However, according to a Mathrubhumi report, the event turned chaotic due to the huge turnout, leading the police to use batons for crowd control.

As per the report, the event had to be closed to new entrants at 6 PM because of excessive crowds. Regrettably, a panic situation unfolded shortly afterwards, causing injuries to many attendees. The injured individuals were swiftly transported to the local hospital for medical care.

Trouble intensified as a fight erupted between the police and those organizing the event, leading to escalating tension because the authorities found it challenging to maintain control over the gathering. Officials then took measures such as locking all entrances and redirecting traffic to alleviate the heavy flow of people near the venue.

The event was set for May 18th in the evening, but the huge crowd far surpassed all predictions. Earlier on that day, Vedan had attended a government gathering alongside Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Warmly received by the CM, this reportedly boosted anticipation for Vedan’s performance later in the evening.

With the growing number of people, those close to the stage started feeling lightheaded and short of breath. Fortunately, medical teams were on hand, and while some injuries occurred, no severe cases or fatalities were announced.

A report from Kerala Kaumudi states that approximately 15 individuals suffered injuries during an incident reminiscent of a stampede at Vedan’s performance.
