Varun Dhawan says he was asked to match Rajinikanth’s style while prepping for Baby John, calls himself a fanboy of Thalapathy Vijay

As an ardent cinephile who has spent countless hours engrossed in the captivating world of cinema, I must say that Varun Dhawan’s journey in Baby John is nothing short of intriguing. The way he delves into the rich heritage of South Indian cinema, particularly the iconic gestures of Rajinikanth and Thalapathy Vijay, truly exemplifies his dedication to his craft.

Varun Dhawan has been drawing a lot of notice due to his latest movie, Baby John, which is being directed by Atlee. This film is rumored to be an adaptation of the beloved Tamil movie Theri, starring Thalapathy Vijay. Lately, Varun shared insights about how he was encouraged to emulate the styles of iconic Southern actors Rajinikanth and Thalapathy Vijay for his part in Kalees’s direction.

While chatting with Shubhankar Mishra, Varun Dhawan acknowledged the inevitable comparisons drawn between him and Thalapathy Vijay. The actor revealed that during the early phases of his role preparation for Baby John, the makers presented a showcase to him highlighting famous scenes and signature moves of the legendary Southern star Rajinikanth.

Varun explained in detail about learning the subtleties behind Rajinikanth’s movements and using them in his own acting style.

He said, “Jab maine yeh film shuru ki thi, toh inhone ek PDF file banaya tha. File mein unhone saare Rajinikanth ke shots rakhe the. And all the antics that Rajinikanth sir does. Toh main yeh dekh raha tha. Phir unhone agle din mujhe ek aur presentation dikhaya ki yeh Rajinikanth karte hain, aur phir baaki heroes copy kaise kar sakte hain.”

At the outset of the movie, a PDF file was created with every notable pose of Rajinikanth. This compilation featured all the distinctive gestures he uses. I spent time reviewing it, then the following day, they presented another demonstration. On one side, they showed Rajinikanth’s actions, and on the other, they displayed how other actors could mimic his unique style.

In other words, Varun pointed out that a large number of actors, no matter where they work or in which film industry, have adopted specific gestures and styles reminiscent of Rajinikanth during their acting careers.

He mentioned that the distinctive poses of the actor known as Vettaiyan have remained timelessly fresh, inspiring numerous actors throughout the years to try to replicate them in their individual styles.

As our discussion progressed, Varun expressed his profound respect for the talented actor Thalapathy Vijay. He pointed out that unlike many others in the industry, Vijay doesn’t imitate previous actors but rather possesses a unique, unmatched charm all his own.

Varun Dhawan expressed that Thalapathy Vijay is an exceptional actor whom he admires greatly, having watched numerous films of his.

For those unfamiliar, the movie titled “Baby John” will be released on December 25, which happens to be Christmas Day. Notably, this is Tamil actress Keerthy Suresh’s first venture into Bollywood.
