Enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating the release of “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2″ for quite a while now. In fact, it’s been 21 years since the initial game launched, and another six years since we first heard about the sequel. However, following this extended wait, fans can now officially pre-order the game.
However, the pre-order process hasn’t run smoothly, as many enthusiasts have expressed anger due to certain key game features being concealed behind a paywall. Now, the developers are addressing this issue following the backlash they received.
Paying Extra For Clans
In many cases, you may find that you need to pay more for a premium edition of a game. These often offer additional features such as cosmetic changes or extra content that do not influence the core gameplay and storyline. For instance, Bloodlines 2 offers additional downloadable content in its $90 premium version, which is quite typical.
In addition to the existing clans like Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim, and Ventrue, another DLC called Shadows of Silk offers the option to play as either Lasombra or Toreador as well.
Just a heads-up: Clans in “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines” function similarly to races in most other role-playing games. Each clan offers unique advantages, gameplay styles, and visual appearances for your character.
It’s not hard to see why many players felt frustrated, given that the two playable clans are exclusively available in the priciest version of the game.
Hey @PdxInteractive @VtM_Blotline, I was really looking forward to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, but locking playable clans to the premium edition feels like an overly greedy move. I hope this isn’t representative of the entire game. #Bloodlines2 #VampireTheMasqueradeBloodlines2″
This version maintains the criticism while also expressing a hope that it won’t impact the overall experience, making it less confrontational and more open to conversation.

Refunds For Pre-Orders
Following Paradox Interactive’s initially unimpressive explanation for their actions, it appears they’ve had a change of heart. Previously planned pre-orders have been put on hold, refunds are being offered, and changes are set to be implemented promptly, as detailed in a recent Reddit post. Here is the essential information for you:
- If you already bought the $90 version, you will receive a refund
- Steam users do not need to do anything and will automatically receive a partial refund to their account.
- PS5 players will be contacted starting September 8, 2025, to receive a full refund. Anyone who still wants to purchase Bloodlines 2 for PlayStation 5 before its release will have to wait for the final price adjustments.
It remains uncertain how Paradox intends to alter the pricing for their game and its various editions. However, if they avoid making fans purchase the priciest edition just to access key features, it might help soothe the upset community.
