Vampire Survivors is gearing up for a significant upgrade later in 2022, which includes an exciting new feature: cross-save compatibility across multiple platforms. This means you can save your progress on one platform and pick it up where you left off on another. However, there seems to be a slight delay for PlayStation users, as they might not receive the update or the feature this time around.
Programmer Poncle shared the following message on their various social media outlets, such as X (previously known as Twitter):
I’m really bummed to share that the Cross-Save feature for Vampire Survivors, which we were aiming to introduce in our upcoming update, won’t be available on PlayStation 4 and 5 just yet. I know this might not be the news you wanted to hear, but rest assured, we’re working hard to bring it to you as soon as possible!
We previously announced that Cross-Save would be launched simultaneously on PlayStation 4/5, PC, Xbox, Android, and iOS devices, together with our upcoming free VS update in April. Unfortunately, at the last moment, we encountered a legal issue concerning PlayStation that we hadn’t foreseen, which necessitates us to disclose information about our partners that we can’t currently provide.
It appears that the likelihood of Cross-Save being introduced on PlayStation consoles has significantly decreased, but it’s not entirely ruled out. Regardless, we’ll continue collaborating with PlayStation to address these challenges. We deeply apologize for any excitement generated around this feature on PlayStation, as our plans have unfortunately had to change at the last moment.
In the coming weeks, Cross-Save functionality will remain accessible across PC, Xbox, Android, and iOS devices. The Nintendo Switch version will be added at a later point in time, while integration with Apple Arcade is planned, provided it doesn’t violate any privacy assurances.
Note: If you’re considering Cross-Save solely to earn trophies, keep in mind that all PlayStation trophies are deactivated at the game level across platforms when using a save file from a different system.
Previously, it was mentioned that the cross-save feature would be included in Vampire Survivors‘ 1.13 update after thorough development across all platforms. However, due to additional time required to address concerns like security, traffic, and privacy, the cross-save feature will not be available for Nintendo Switch and Apple Arcade versions in this update. Instead, it will arrive with a subsequent update.
Approximately a year after Poncle disclosed that Vampire Survivors would arrive on PlayStation, we’ve received unfortunate news. However, there’s still a glimmer of optimism, so Shacknews will keep an eye out for any updates regarding the cross-play issue. In the meantime, take a look at our dedicated Vampire Survivors page to learn more about the game.
