Valve Finally Announced Their Overwatch Look-Alike

As a veteran gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the rise and fall of gaming giants to the birth and death of countless titles. So when Deadlock was announced, I must admit, I felt a pang of nostalgia. Here we have another hero shooter, reminiscent of Overwatch, but with a twist that feels like an old MOBA friend has come knocking at my door.

The long-awaited unveiling of the game known as Deadlock has officially taken place, with its release now available in Early Access. But let’s discuss the essence of this game and whether or not it could potentially fill the shoes of Overwatch.

What Is Deadlock?

Deadlock is a competitive 6-versus-6 hero shooter, similar to Overwatch. Each player selects their own hero, who possesses a unique assortment of four abilities, and the objective for both teams is to control the map.

Instead of towers guarding you and your opponent’s side, there will be big chunky metal robots called “walkers” with flamethrowers that will try to protect the lane.

The goal is to defeat the opponent’s Patron, a floating ball that will shoot back with everything it has.

From the sounds of it, it will be a mix of Overwatch and MOBAs like DOTA 2.

Deadlock’s Heroes Will Feel Very Familiar…

On its debut, there will be twenty protagonists in Deadlock, and it’s quite evident that the character designs in Overwatch have had a significant impact.

Among the characters here, there’s a woman who’s a skilled marksman with long hair, a ninja, and more typical figures such as an archer and a swordsman. To put it plainly, these character designs seem a bit overused to me…

How To Get Early Access To Deadlock

It’s important to have friends on Steam, as they helped around 90,000 individuals secure their early access invitations! If one of your friends happens to have an invitation to the early access, they can easily extend it to you for the game.
