As a dedicated follower of Malayalam cinema, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming re-release of the timeless classic Vallyettan! With Mammootty, one of our industry’s legends, returning to the big screen after 24 years in this beautifully restored 4K version, it feels like a homecoming.
The much-anticipated movie “Vallyettan,” featuring Mammootty in the lead role, will be returning to theaters for a re-release on November 29, 2024. This film, masterfully directed by Shaji Kailas, was initially released on September 10, 2000.
24 years after its initial debut, the movie underwent restoration for high-definition 4K resolution viewing, and prior to its re-launch, Mammootty provided a brief video message.
On Mammootty Kampany’s Instagram, the megastar emphasized that the movie initially received tremendous acclaim and has been praised for years since its release. Now, this classic film is being reintroduced to audiences, having undergone 4K restoration.

Prior to the remake’s premiere, the creators of the film featuring Mammootty revealed a fresh trailer, signifying a 24-year gap since this character last appeared on the silver screen.
In the film “Vallyettan,” starring Megastar Mammootty in a pivotal role, we follow the story of Arakkal Madhavanunni, a successful businessman and landlord who is also a member of the aristocracy. As the family patriarch, he faces challenges when his ancestral property is threatened by his own uncle, Arakkal Kuttikrishnan Nair, and his son.
In this story, the struggle to preserve his family home becomes a main focus, causing tensions among him and his younger siblings. This drama unfolds amidst an exciting narrative. Mammootty stars as the leading character, with notable actors like Shobana, Sai Kumar, NF Varghese, Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, and several others occupying crucial roles.

Later on, the film was re-created in Kannada under the title “Jyeshta.” Notably, the late actor Vishnuvardhan starred as the main character, while Suresh Krissna took charge of directing the production.
Going forward, actor Mammootty is currently engaged in the filming of his grand production titled MMMN, under the direction of Mahesh Narayanan. This movie began its shoot in Sri Lanka not too long ago.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that this film serves as a long-awaited reunion of the legendary duo Mammootty and Mohanlal on the silver screen. Notably, it also boasts prominent performances by Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban in pivotal roles.
