As a gamer, I’ve just discovered my new favorite hangout spot: Valentyns in Cologne, Germany. This fresh workspace is designed with small and mid-sized businesses in mind, crafted by the brilliant minds of entrepreneur Ferdinand Stahl and architect Thomas van den Valentyn. They’ve recognized a demand for workspaces that outshine the lounge-like environments of recent years and deliver high-performance spaces instead. Drawing inspiration from tech giants like Google and Microsoft, they’ve focused on seamless service and spatial quality to boost productivity and well-being. It’s not just a workspace – it’s my new go-to gaming den!

Located on a 1960s riverfront building overlooking the Rhine, this 2,100-square-meter workspace is home to 43 private offices, six meeting rooms, and a wellness floor. A restaurant and terrace at ground level promote casual interaction, while the maximum membership of 150 people encourages deep collaboration – inspired by Dunbar’s Number concept. The interior design showcases van den Valentyn’s architectural finesse with abundant natural light, soft pastel hues, and distinctive furniture pieces from USM Haller, Fritz Hansen, and Eileen Gray. Artworks by Gerhard Richter and Andy Warhol enrich the cultural ambiance, while sound-absorbing panels and adaptable lighting maintain a comfortable environment throughout the day.

Valentyns likewise prioritizes durability and employee wellbeing significantly. Facilities offer Finnish saunas, infrared saunas, a specially designed ice bath, a fitness area equipped with Technogym equipment, and a treatment room providing HydraFacials and IV infusions. Byredo products carefully selected and the strategic placement of LC2 Le Corbusier chairs in right angles create an ambiance that subtly merges work and leisure.

Essentially, Valentyns serves as a catalyst for development. By streamlining processes ranging from logistics to wellness appointments, the concierge team enables members to devote their undivided attention to their professional endeavors. As Stahl aptly states, “Improved tools yield improved results,” and Valentyns redefines the standard for what an office can achieve and strive towards.
