The initial movie from this series came out five years later. Given this, followers are concerned about how long it might take the filmmaker to produce its follow-up. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, director Nag Ashwin provided an update on the sequel for Kalki 2898 AD. He stated, “Indeed, work is being carried out on the second installment. We filmed some parts of it during the earlier filming schedules when part one was in production. We shot for approximately 20 days. However, there’s still a significant amount of planning and contemplation left to do.”

Regarding the release date of the sequel, the director indicated that it may not require as much time compared to Kalki 2898 AD. Ashwin stated, “In contrast, we anticipate that the production and release of the second part will be quicker than the first.”

During the interview, the filmmaker explained his reasons for sharing the tale of Kalki 2898 AD with Indian viewers. He expressed, “I believed the moment was ripe to share this story. Our nation has a vast audience, not just in urban areas but also in smaller towns. They appreciate stories like Marvel and Star Wars. I thought it was time for us to delve into our indigenous superheroes as it’s distinctively Indian.”
