Unni Mukundan stirred up quite a fuss at movie theaters with his film “Marco.” This movie not only performed exceptionally well at the Malayalam box office but also spread its success to other regional box offices, even reaching Hindi-speaking audiences. In a recent interview, the actor divulged that he drew inspiration for this project, now considered one of the most violent action films, from a specific source.
In an interview with Galatta, Unni Mukundan acknowledged that Thalapathy Vijay’s movie Leo and Yash’s KGF series have set new standards for action thrillers among viewers. He further explained that these two particular films ignited his desire to produce a similar type of film in the Malayalam language.
According to him, the prosperity of other South Indian films that were popular in Kerala, such as KGF and Leo, had created quite an impact on the market there. This realization was a significant one for him, indicating that his audience is ready for such productions. He simply needed to deliver something comparable.
After making this statement, the Marco character acknowledged that it wasn’t just about matching the quality of the other two classic films, but also about working within a specific budget constraint, which was different from the vast resources available to the influential productions he emulated.
He explained, “When I compare ourselves, we have significant budget differences. As we were both growing, there was a clear plan and strategy in place. I was involved in the project’s development, wanting it to unfold in a specific manner, but I didn’t want to restrict my aspirations by compromising on the final impact.
Previously on social media, Unni Mukundan revealed some exciting news about his upcoming project. He mentioned that because the movie Marco falls under a mature category, it was given an ‘A’ rating by the Central Board of Film Certification, making it inappropriate for young viewers.
Regardless, he promised that his upcoming movie will meet expectations, a production suitable for family viewing as well as those who might have missed seeing Marco on the big screen, and one that will undoubtedly prove to be a rewarding watch.
