Following his collaboration on a particularly intense Malayalam film with Marco, Unni Mukundan has transitioned into embodying a full-fledged romantic hero in his latest release, Get Set Baby. In a recent interview, the actor shared his firm stance against kissing or intimate scenes during production, and also spoke about his first experience taking on a romantic role.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an insightful conversation I had with Unni Mukundan. Over the past seven years of his illustrious career, he hasn’t once taken on a romantic role in any of his films. Instead, each production features him as the solitary leading man without a female co-star by his side.
The actor chose to abstain from kissing or intimate scenes in his movies because he prefers to create films suitable for viewers of every age range.
For the past seven years, I haven’t portrayed a romantic lead character in any of my movies, starting from Meppadiyan and up to Marco. This role was something I found quite difficult to pull off. You might even say that this lack of experience could be considered as a limitation for me as an actor.
He noted, “In all my films, I stick to a policy of not including kissing or intimate scenes. I aim for my movies to be enjoyable for a wide range of viewers.
Delving deeper into my cinematic journey, I’ve found myself in situations where fellow filmmakers have shared instances of notable actors and peers who willingly embrace on-screen kisses. This insight offers a fascinating perspective on the evolving dynamics within our industry.
Instead, the actor emphasized that on-screen displays of intimacy between partners may encompass various approaches, and a kiss isn’t always essential. Similarly to how action sequences are filmed without direct contact, he suggested that such tenderness can be conveyed effectively without any actual touching.
