In the game “Avowed,” a type of entity known as Godlikes are beings whose souls have been affected by one of the gods within the universe of “Pillars of Eternity.” The protagonist, who is the Envoy, is a Godlike being, and during character creation, you can select to express your Godlike status through various Godlike traits.
In the universe of Avowed, nearly every character maintains a deeply personal bond with their divine entity, except for the Envoy who remains unaware of their deity’s identity. Interestingly, the Envoy can exhibit divine abilities and potentially gain godly powers, yet retains the choice to activate these Godlike Features. This guide elucidates what Godlike Features entail in Avowed, and offers insights on whether or not to activate them.
Avowed Godlike Features – What Are They?
In the character creation process, Godlike Features serve as personalized traits symbolizing the deity of the character’s divine counterpart, despite our lack of knowledge about their specific identity.
In general, the divine characteristics in the game Avowed resemble lively coral, mushrooms, and other wild fungal growths that spread across various parts of your head, face, and hair. One of them even conceals your entire face behind a piece of bark, hiding any customizations you’ve made to your facial features.
Due to the obvious alterations in their physiques and countenances, Godlikes are easily distinguishable among people. Frequently, NPCs display surprise or scorn when confronted with a Godlike’s distinctive features.
Even without activating Godlike Features on your character, the fact that you are a Godlike entity and possess unusual traits significant to the narrative of “Avowed” remains crucial.
Should I Display Godlike Features In Avowed?

In regards to whether you should activate Godlike Features, Avowed simplifies the decision as these features do not influence the narrative of the game. Regardless of whether your character lacks Godlike Features or possesses them, Non-Player Characters (NPCs) will still respond to your character’s unusual Godlike appearance, even if they themselves appear completely ordinary.
As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “When you’re tinkering with my character in the creator menu, don’t forget to check out that ‘Enable Godlike Features’ toggle. The game itself will remind you it packs quite a punch if you hover over it.
Regardless if your face is covered in fungus and wild overgrowth, or it’s considered one of the most beautiful in all of Eora, NPC responses remain unchanged.
Essentially, it’s entirely your preference to employ Godlike Features or not, based on your personal taste. Certain dialogues might be clearer with Godlike Features enabled, such as when Ilora teases about your appearance during the tutorial. However, disabling Godlike Features won’t affect any aspect of the gameplay.
