Unlock and Master Monster Hunter Wilds’ Support Ship Secrets!

In the world of Monster Hunter Wilds, the Support Ship serves as a unique provision store. Players can only access this shop following significant advancement in the game’s main storyline and achieving the rank of High Rank Hunter. Its primary function involves delivering essential supplies to the hunter and accepting quests, which upon completion, reward new materials that can be purchased on each return trip. Here’s how it operates:

How to Unlock the Support Ship

As a dedicated Monster Hunter fan, I’ve just conquered the formidable Zoh Shia in Chapter 3-5, the “Monster Hunter” mission, where I miraculously saved Nata’s life. Upon my triumphant return to base camp, I was astonished by the arrival of my very first Support Ship. From that moment onwards, this vessel has been a regular visitor, making journeys to and from our base, delivering crucial supplies along the way.

Where is the Support Ship

The Support Ship solely navigates to and from the Windward Plains’ base camp. Santiago, the emissary of the Support Ship within the camp, will only be accessible when the ship is berthed. He can usually be spotted perched on a pile of crates, situated diagonally opposite Gemma’s Blacksmith.

To determine if the Support Ship is currently accessible, simply look for the yellow and white ship symbol on the Windward Plains visible in the World Map image provided.

When Does the Support Ship Arrive

The Support Ship at the Plains base camp typically stays for a brief period and then leaves for an extended time. Players can identify its arrival through an in-game message, “Arrival Notice: The Support Ship is here.” Before it departs, they’ll receive a warning, “Departure Alert: The Support Ship will be leaving soon.” Lastly, when it actually leaves, the message becomes, “Departure Confirmation: The Support Ship has left.

If players are in the middle of a hunt, this message will be delayed until that hunt is over.

It seems that the Support Ship typically spends around a week within the game before returning to the Windward Plains following departure. Accelerating time or changing seasons can hasten this recurrence, though it may come at a considerable expense.

How Does the Support Ship Shop Inventory Work

Instead of permanent stores found elsewhere, the Support Ship operates on a unique system where its stock refreshes each time it departs from the Windward Plains camp and returns.

Buying Items From the Support Ship

Upon its arrival, players can interact with Santiago and opt for ‘Buy Items’ to view his inventory. Unlike exchanging regular currency (Zenny), Santiago trades exclusively using Guild Points. These points can be acquired by completing quests or gathering resources within the game, MH Wilds. Mainly, these Guild Points are utilized for setting up or repairing Pop-up camps, altering time and seasons, and this is one of their primary functions.

Requesting Items From the Support Ship

After the Support Ship finishes its roundtrip, I’ll find my inventory brimming with fresh loot thanks to Santiago. It’s all up to me which goods I ask for when chatting with him prior to his departure. He offers four choices: pick ‘Request Goods’, then select what suits me best.

  • Any (default): A balanced set of items
  • Medicinal Items: Mostly comprised of highly effective medicinal items.
  • Equipment Materials: Mostly comprised of materials for forging weapons and armor.
  • Misc. Items: Mostly comprised of special items, such as equipment, hunting items, and trade-in items.

The term “Equipment Materials” refers to the basic components used for making equipment parts, not actual weapons and armor. If you want Santiago to carry weapons, select either ‘Any’ or ‘Miscellaneous Items’. Note that he won’t be bringing any armor.

Regardless of your decision, it’s the selected option that will decide what Santiago will deliver when the Support Ship makes its next appearance.

As a gamer, I always make it a point to stock up on weapons from Santiago’s shop on the Support Ship. Though they are typically one tier below the top-tier weapons in the game for hunters at that stage, it’s still a smart move to grab them. This is particularly beneficial for those who enjoy tinkering with various weapon types. These weapons can act as stepping stones to upgrade to higher-tier weapons, sparing us from the grind of hunting down lower-tier monsters for parts needed to craft multiple base weapons before reaching the best one.
