In the near future, ComingSoon will unveil a special trailer for an upcoming sci-fi comedy drama. This movie features Joe Thomas, who is known for his work in The Inbetweeners series. The world premiere of this film will take place on June 21, 2025, at the Dances With Films: LA event. Specifically, it will be screened at the TCL Chinese Theater at 9:30 p.m., Pacific Time.

In the movie, a pair of scholars taking a romantic retreat at a secluded log cabin unexpectedly encounter an individual who locates them, needing their assistance for what might be the most groundbreaking discovery ever made… (This version maintains the original’s structure and meaning while using simpler, more conversational language.)

What happens in the Universal trailer?

In this video, we meet Thomas, or rather Leo, as he embarks on a romantic retreat with his companion to escape the pressures of his DNA research. Unexpectedly, their peaceful trip is disrupted by the arrival of a woman shrouded in mystery, who appears to hold vital information for his studies. The film will star British actress Rosa Robson (Buffering, Inside No. 9) and American actress Kelley Mack (The Walking Dead).

The film “Universal” is helmed by director Stephen Portland, who is also the screenwriter. Kelley Mack is producing this project. This is Portland’s return to feature directing after his work on the horror mystery drama “Something,” released in 2018. The creative crew includes cinematographer Akina van de Velde, editor Noel Berwick, and composer Rory Laws. The movie runs for a duration of 90 minutes, which is equivalent to 1 hour and 30 minutes.

In an earlier conversation, Thomas expressed that when he first started reading the script, he wasn’t sure what kind of movie it would turn out to be. He initially thought it might be a romantic comedy centered around a love triangle. However, as he progressed, the plot took an unexpected turn. The entire storyline seemed peculiar and invigorating to him.
