As a lifelong Star Wars fan who has witnessed both triumphs and disappointments in the galaxy far, far away, I must admit that my heart skipped a beat when I heard Ubisoft’s admission about Star Wars Outlaws underperforming sales expectations. However, after reading about their commitment to enhancing game mechanics and polish, I find myself once again filled with hope.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been keeping a close eye on Ubisoft’s latest financial report, covering the initial half of their fiscal year. This fascinating document offers an inside peek into how some of their blockbuster titles fared during that period, among them Star Wars Outlaws, which made its grand entrance towards the end of summer. In this report, Ubisoft openly acknowledges that their Star Wars game didn’t quite meet expectations, labeling it as an “underperformer.” However, they’re far from throwing in the towel; instead, they’re diligently working on refinements and adjustments to make it even better.
On page 3 of their earnings report, Ubisoft mentions Star Wars Outlaws and discusses the studio’s future plans. After acknowledging that the game didn’t meet its sales targets, Ubisoft states that the development team is actively working on improving the game mechanics and overall quality.
The upcoming significant version of Star Wars Outlaws is planned for November 21st, marking its simultaneous debut on Steam. Ubisoft anticipates that this release, together with the premiere of the initial story expansion on the same date, will bring positive developments to the Star Wars game.
Star Wars: Outlaw received mostly positive feedback upon its August release, including from us at Shacknews. Yet, it didn’t meet Ubisoft’s predicted sales numbers. As the studio maps out the future for Star Wars: Outlaw, be prepared to read updates about it right here on Shacknews.
