As a long-time fan of Tyler Perry’s work, I couldn’t be more excited about the release of his new series, “Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black“! After binge-watching countless hours of Madea and her hilarious antics, it’s time for a change of pace with this captivating drama.
Tyler Perry’s new series under his Netflix contract, titled “Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black,” is set to premiere on October 24th. This exciting news was confirmed by Netflix on September 12th, and they also unveiled the first teaser trailer for the show, promising a highly anticipated fall release!
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the premiere of “Beauty in Black” is set for October 24th, marking the start of a two-part series release. However, some fans might have grown weary of Netflix’s practice of dividing show releases into segments, but there’s a silver lining here. The first season of “Beauty in Black” comprises 16 episodes, implying that part 1 is expected to feature approximately eight episodes.
Beyond increasing the number of episodes in Beauty in Black, it’s also a full-length drama series lasting an hour each, which means you won’t quickly blow through eight half-hour episodes in no time. It makes for a substantial binge-watching session, and considering the trend for two-part releases, part 2 could potentially come out within a month. However, Netflix hasn’t specified a release date for part 2 yet.
Tyler Perry’s “Beauty in Black” focuses its narrative around two women, Kimmie (played by Taylor Polidore Williams) and Mallory (Crystle Stewart), who find themselves in starkly contrasting situations. While Kimmie has been disowned by her mother and struggles to navigate life independently, Mallory runs a prosperous business. Eventually, the lives of these two women intersect.
Here’s the official premise of the series via Netflix:
Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black follows two women leading very different lives. While Kimmie is struggling to make a living after her mother kicked her out, and Mallory is running a successful business, they find themselves entangled in each other’s lives.
Apart from announcing the premiere date, Netflix also gave fans a sneak peek into what the series holds, promising many steamy and shocking plot developments that will keep audiences at the very edge of excitement.
There are few lines of dialogue spoken in the teaser, but one of them offers some of the most intrigue over the thrilling visual teases: “Beautiful and deadly.” Mallory then ends the teaser with this chilling line before shocking cuts to an ambulance and a car speeding toward someone: “Beauty in black, baby.”
This series additionally features an impressive and vast collection of talented actors, a common trait in Tyler Perry’s productions, be they for cinema or television. Here are the new additions joining Williams and Stewart in “Beauty in Black”:

Perry is set to debut his first series collaboration with Netflix, which is just the beginning of many future projects together. This gifted actor, producer, writer, and director has already tasted success with Netflix, having starred in the 2021 movie “Don’t Look Up” and directed three original films: “A Madea Homecoming,” “A Jazzman’s Blues,” and the steamy hit of 2024, “Mea Culpa.” His upcoming Netflix original film, “The Six Triple Eight,” is scheduled for release on Dec. 20, with “Madea’s Destination Wedding” expected to follow in the next year.
