As a seasoned gamer with a decade-long history of streaming on Twitch, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia as I read about TwitchCon‘s 10th anniversary plans. Having attended numerous conventions over the years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible growth and evolution of this platform that has become the heartbeat of gaming culture.
The Opening Ceremony for TwitchCon’s 2024 convention has concluded, but the weekend festivities are now underway! Excitingly, dates for next year have already been planned: TwitchCon will mark its 10th anniversary by coming back to Rotterdam, Netherlands in late May and San Diego, CA in mid-October.
The Twitch Blog has revealed that TwitchCon Europe will happen in Rotterdam from the 31st of May to the 1st of June, 2025. Meanwhile, TwitchCon in the United States will occur in San Diego from the 17th to the 19th of October, 2025. You might recall that Twitch previously announced in January that Rotterdam and San Diego would be hosting its convention at least up until the following year. Specifically, Rotterdam will continue hosting TwitchCon Europe for another year as the San Diego Convention Center remains unavailable until 2028.
At the TwitchCon Opening Ceremony, some major announcements were made. Twitch intends to tackle issues reported by users concerning their mobile app, even though they mentioned that overall views have increased since its recent update. The Guild Program is planning to extend its reach globally, surpassing its recent expansion into the United Kingdom. Furthermore, expect improvements in Twitch’s Enhanced Broadcasting (the stream configuration tool developed in partnership with NVIDIA and Open Broadcaster Software), as well as a reevaluation of their approach towards handling user strikes.
