Dan Clancy, CEO of Twitch, wrote an open letter to the community outlining his team’s future plans for the platform. In this letter, he discussed various upcoming adjustments that aim to improve Twitch as a platform for both streamers and viewers. One significant change mentioned is making Twitch’s monetization tools more accessible by allowing most streamers to earn subscriptions or bits without first achieving Affiliate status.
In his open letter, Dan Clancy revealed that most streamers can utilize the platform’s monetization tools right from the beginning of their streaming adventure.
Earlier, only those who reached Affiliate status could earn subscriptions and bits from their viewers. To qualify as an Affiliate, one needed to gather at least 50 followers, stream for a minimum of eight hours over seven distinct days, and consistently have around three viewers. Yet, the future of Affiliate status remains uncertain after this announcement.
The letter further details numerous upcoming enhancements, including innovative clip editing tools, collaborative Shared Hype Trains for live streaming, and advancements in the functionality of the Twitch mobile application.
