Twisters Director Praises David Corenswet as Superman: ‘He’s Going to Kill it’

As a huge fan of both Twisters and the DC Extended Universe, I can’t help but be excited about the emerging talent that is David Corenswet. His role in Twisters as Scott, the seemingly antagonistic storm chaser, has already caught my attention with his imposing presence and magnetic screen presence. However, what truly piqued my interest was the revelation from Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung, who spoke about Corenswet’s audition for Superman and his belief that the actor would make a “great Superman.”

In the upcoming movie “Twisters,” which is a follow-up to the 1996 film of the same name, we’ll see new rising talents such as Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos making their mark. However, it’s worth noting that David Corenswet could potentially steal the show. He is set to portray Clark Kent in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman production.

What Did Twisters Director Say About David Corenswet?

In the movie “Twisters,” Corenswet portrays Scott, who is part of Javi’s storm-chasing crew led by Ramos. During the production of “Twisters,” Corenswet was under consideration for the role of Superman. When director Lee Isaac Chung became aware of Corenswet’s connection to Superman, he believed that the actor would be an excellent fit for the iconic character.

Chung shared with Inside Total Film podcast that “He has a powerful and larger-than-life persona, yet there’s an unexpected purity about him which aligns perfectly with Superman. After his auditions in LA, he returned to the set still embodying the Superman character. He doesn’t fully method act, but manages to convey that aura around him.”

Corenswet’s role as Scott in “Corenswet’s Scott” is seen as opposing or conflicting with the heroic character he’ll portray in “Superman.” After Corenswet’s audition for “Superman,” Chung was aware that significant changes were coming the actor’s way.

After his audition, Corenswet returned with an air of confidence that left me believing he had landed the role, shared Chung. There was an uncanny sense about him – he fit the part perfectly, both visually and intuitively. I can’t help but think how fortunate James Gunn is to have discovered this hidden gem of an actor; he’s bound to shine brilliantly in the role.

I’m an avid moviegoer and have been eagerly anticipating the release of some highly anticipated films in the coming years. Among them are “Twisters,” a thrilling new disaster movie, and “Superman,” the long-awaited reboot of the iconic superhero franchise.
