According to Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s top executive, a new installment of the show is actually scheduled for release in 2024.
At the Netflix Q2 2024 Earnings Call, Sarandos shared details about the upcoming shows set to release on Netflix in 2024. Some of these titles were previously announced, like “Emily in Paris” and “Squid Game.” Surprisingly, “Virgin River” was mentioned as well, implying that season 6 might be released this year.
Towards the close of this year, we have some exciting returns and new seasons to look forward to, such as “Squid Game” and “Emily in Paris,” another helping of “Selling Sunset,” the premieres of “The Lincoln Lawyer,” “The Diplomat,” “Virgin River,” and “Love is Blind.” Additionally, Ryan Murphy has an amazing new season of “Monsters” in store for us. These are just a few of the treats we have coming up before the year ends.
So when could Virgin River season 6 be coming?
Based on Ted Sarandos’ confirmation during Netflix’s Q2 earnings call that a new season of Virgin River is forthcoming this year, it is likely that the sixth season will be released towards the end of 2024.
It’s doubtful that August is the month for the release of Netflix’s major originals, as they typically announce their premiere dates well beforehand. While September is still a possibility, it’s less likely given the standard practice.
It’s plausible that the sixth season of “Virgin River” will be released on Netflix towards the end of 2024, possibly between October and December. Previous seasons have been dropped during these months, and there aren’t any major releases planned for November and December at the moment. As a result, it appears likely that season 6 could be one of Netflix’s notable year-end premieres.
Based on past trends, I have a strong feeling that the sixth season of the show might be released in November, possibly even before Thanksgiving. This is just an educated guess, but it’s worth mentioning that Netflix previously dropped the second season on the day after Thanksgiving in 2020.
