It appears that Donald Trump’s team is allegedly developing a fresh reality TV program, wherein immigrants are to participate in tests demonstrating their patriotism in order to win U.S. citizenship. However, the idea is already drawing heavy flak and seems laughable to numerous people.
Patriotic Challenges
This upcoming show, known as “The American,” is being produced by a Canadian creator who has experience with reality TV formats. In this program, contestants who are immigrants will participate in a variety of tasks demonstrating patriotism to compete for the opportunity to become U.S. citizens. Some of the challenges include gold panning in San Francisco, constructing a rocket in Cape Canaveral, and answering questions about American history. The final event is scheduled to occur in Washington D.C., where the winner will receive their citizenship during a special ceremony.
Was The Government Directly Involved?
It’s been suggested that Trump’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, backed the idea for the show. Rumors further indicate that she might have even drafted a comprehensive pitch document explaining the show’s fundamental concept. Nevertheless, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has clarified that these reports are unfounded, asserting that Noem had no knowledge of the proposal and played no role in its planning.
Kristi Noem gained recognition from a video broadcasted in March, which depicted her outside the CECOT, a high-security prison in El Salvador. In this video, she presented a firm stance against individuals illegally residing in the U.S., whom she referred to as “criminals.” She emphasized that she and President Trump were determined to apprehend these individuals, detain them in facilities like CECOT if they refused to leave the country promptly. The video’s backdrop included a cell filled with inmates with shaved heads, which many viewers found unsettling.
It is also worth noting that Noem has admitted in her book to having shot her 14-month-old dog due to its disruptive behavior. She added that she held a deep dislike for the animal.
Real–Life Hunger Games?
There’s widespread disbelief about the proposed game show, with some viewing it as amusing while others find it extremely unsettling and degrading. On various social platforms, individuals are drawing parallels to a grim reality portrayal of “The Hunger Games“, describing it as an appalling spectacle where human misery is reduced to mere entertainment.
this is so dystopian and unethical- trump has literally turned usa into the hunger games

For numerous individuals seeking refuge in the U.S., their journey often involves enduring trauma, nurturing hope, and striving for a more prosperous life for themselves and their loved ones. The thought of subjecting these people to compete for their fate on a game show appears almost cruel, belittling their heartrending efforts for security and liberty. It strips the dignity of refugees down to mere entertainment and transforms their quest for a fresh start into a spectacle meant for public amusement.
Why the hell is nothing being done? An evil dictatorship is rising up.

Trump And The “Memefication” Of His Immigration Policies
This TV idea aligns seamlessly with the Trump administration’s tactic of disseminating political messages in a bold, meme-like manner. For instance, one highly debated instance was a Valentine’s Day post from the White House’s official Instagram account that said, “Roses are red, violets are blue, attempt illegal entry, and we’ll send you back to your home.” A poem that many deemed inappropriate and dehumanizing.

Even popular TikTok trends such as the “100 Men against 1 Gorilla” meme have been adopted by Trump’s team. The White House Instagram page recently shared an AI-generated image depicting Donald Trump alongside the caption, “142,000 Illegal Aliens versus 1 President Trump.” This type of meme exchange highlights how Trump’s team simplifies complex political matters like immigration into sensational and frequently polarizing statements.
What exactly will come of this idea remains unclear.
