True Alien Isolation VR is finally here with immersive motion controls and much more

Originally, Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation showcased as one of the early tech demos for the Oculus Rift DK1 VR headset; however, the VR edition of the game didn’t have an official release. Although players could enjoy a satisfactory VR experience with the Mother VR mod, a new, advanced modification has recently become available.

At this stage, the Alien Isolation Grand Mother VR modification is a revamped version of the original, developed by a fresh group of modifiers. You can find and download it via this link. This modification introduces complete 6DOF tracking to an already nerve-wracking horror game.

Alien Isolation Grand Mother VR

Developed by modder JayP, Grand Mother VR is built upon the foundation of the abandoned Mother VR mod, offering an immersive and remarkable virtual reality experience.

In contrast to the initial modification, this latest edition of Alien: Isolation VR offers a unique feature where players can freely maneuver their weapons and items separately from their character.

The modification significantly enhances the immersion and fear factor in Alien: Isolation, making it scarier than ever. With the game’s recent focus on physical autonomy, you’ll discover some clever new maneuvers to perform.

Because the motion tracker works smoothly and can be moved freely, you now have the ability to position it behind you and monitor movements that would otherwise remain hidden. I found this feature particularly enjoyable while playing the VR game Alien Rogue Incursion, but being able to do it in Alien Isolation adds a level of excitement that I hadn’t experienced before.

Although the new virtual reality modification is currently in its initial stages, it already delivers a fresh, immersive VR adventure. During our constrained testing (blame those work deadlines!), the experience was captivating, and we encountered only minor glitches. However, JayP cautions that more significant problems might surface in the future.

Ever since the tantalizing DK1 tech demos sparked my imagination, the idea of experiencing Alien: Isolation in VR with full motion controls has been a long-held dream of mine. The Mother VR mod was entertaining, but its absence of complete motion control diminished the immersion. Now, my dream has become a reality as Creative Assembly’s chilling horror masterpiece is playable just as I had always envisioned.

As enthusiasts continue to explore and enhance the initial version, Creative Assembly has already embarked on the development of the eagerly anticipated follow-up, which goes by the name Alien: Isolation 2. Details about this upcoming horror game are scarce at present, but we’re optimistic that it will surpass expectations significantly.
