Tron: Ares Will Feature Music by Nine Inch Nails

As a long-time fan of both Nine Inch Nails and the Tron franchise, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the news that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will be providing the music for Tron: Ares. With their impressive track record in film scoring, from The Social Network to Gone Girl, and now including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Challengers, I have no doubt that they will deliver a score that will perfectly complement the visual spectacle of this highly-anticipated sequel.

Nine Inch Nails will provide the music for Tron: Ares.

After the highly popular Tron: Legacy soundtrack composed by Daft Punk, it’s now revealed that Nine Inch Nails, led by Trent Reznor, will create the music for Tron: Ares.

Back in 1987, I, or rather Trent Reznor, brought Nine Inch Nails to life. Fast forward to 2016, my long-time collaborator, Atticus Ross, officially joined the ranks of this musical journey we’ve been on together.

As a dedicated admirer, I’ve had the privilege of enjoying some extraordinary film scores crafted by the brilliant duo, Reznor and Ross. Their masterpieces include the enchanting melodies for The Social Network (2010), the gripping tunes of Gone Girl (2014), the pulsating rhythms of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023), and many more yet to come in 2024’s Challengers.

What do we know about Tron: Ares?

Ares” is the third film in Disney’s Tron series, after “Tron” from 1982 and “Tron: Legacy” in 2010. This new movie is directed by Joachim Rønning, who has previously worked on films like “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” (released in 2019) and “Young Woman and the Sea” (scheduled for 2024). He also collaborated with Espen Sandberg on “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” which came out in 2017.

In this movie, you’ll see actors like Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, and Sarah Desjardins. Notably, Jeff Bridges is returning to his character as Kevin Flynn.

The production for the new Tron film was completed in May 2024, as announced by Rønning via an Instagram post. In his message, he expressed gratitude towards the dedicated and hardworking crew who, according to him, took filmmaking to unprecedented levels, even during six weeks of night shoots that never seemed to tire them. He also thanked the talented cast for their commitment, promising that the world would soon see the remarkable work they’ve accomplished together.

On October 10, 2025, the film Tron: Ares is set to hit theaters and IMAX screens across the United States, courtesy of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
