Movie producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has ignited a buzz on social media platforms following his recent comments on the upcoming Transformers and GI Joe crossover. This highly anticipated project has left fans eagerly waiting for quite some time now. The first hint of this collaboration was dropped in the 2023 movie, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”. In a recent interview, Bonaventura discussed the progress made so far and the hurdles encountered during the joint venture.
Transformers producer explains difficulties of G.I. Joe crossover
Lorenzo di Bonaventura has produced numerous films of the GI Joe and Transformers universe. He is currently busy promoting Transformers One, which is set to hit theaters in the US on September 20.
Recently, Bonaventura visited Collider for a brief interview. The crossover between GI Joe and Transformers was hinted at in the post-credits sequence of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023). However, Bonaventura admitted that they are encountering challenges when it comes to weaving a compelling narrative with numerous characters to kick off this project.
The creator explained, “Storytelling involves locating a narrative and fine-tuning it. However, when things don’t work as planned, figuring out why they aren’t working becomes crucial. This process can make me uneasy due to the term ‘crossover.’ To me, this term may imply an equal split of 50/50, which I believe could result in a sense of imbalance if attempted.
In relation to the GI Joe and Transformers crossover, Bonaventura muses, “There will be plenty of action from both Joes and Transformers, along with human involvement. Perhaps it could be evenly distributed among the three groups. However, I can’t say for certain that it will feel natural without some adjustments.
