As a seasoned gamer of network television dramas, I’ve seen my fair share of twists and turns, but the departure of Robin Weigert’s character Teddi Bruin from Tracker left me scratching my head. However, Justin Hartley‘s recent interview has managed to pique my interest once again. The idea of Velma teaming up with Reenie for the second season sounds like an intriguing dynamic that could breathe fresh life into the narrative.
The action-drama series “Tracker,” airing on CBS and starring Justin Hartley as survivalist Colter Shaw, quickly became one of the highest-rated shows on network television after its premiere on February 11, 2024. The success of the first season prompted CBS to greenlight a second season before the first had even finished airing. However, it was announced in August 2024 that Robin Weigert, who plays Teddi Bruin, would not be returning for Season 2. Now, Hartley has addressed the question of how the show will handle Teddi’s absence.
Justin Hartley reveals how Tracker Season 2 will handle Teddi Bruin’s absence
In a recent conversation, Hartley shared insights about how the character Tracker would manage when one of the key figures from the initial season is missing. The show is based on The Never Game, a book authored by Jeffery Deaver in 2019.
TV Insider queried Hartley regarding the plot progression after Teddi Bruin’s departure, to which Hartley responded by revealing that Velma, Teddi’s spouse, will work closely with Reenie in Season 2.
Towards the close of the previous season, Reenie opted to depart from her company and embark on a solo venture, as mentioned by Hartley. This significant life shift brings her into partnership with Velma, and you’ll witness them collaborating frequently, which is an engaging dynamic. They share similar objectives but approach their work in contrasting ways. Bobby, our tech genius, is diligently working away, while we also have a couple of exciting surprises in store for Reenie, according to his statement.
Hartley’s remark aligns with what showrunner Elwood Reid shared with TVLine about Velma’s part in Season 2, back in July 2024. As Reid put it then, “You’ll find that Velma is assuming a particularly intriguing position, building on hints dropped by Reenie’s character in the last few episodes of the first season.”
