Tourist Family producer hits back at X user after he shares screenshot of film’s pirated version

The family-oriented movie “Tourist Family,” featuring Sasikumar and Simran as the main characters, is currently enjoying its run in cinemas, with positive feedback increasing. However, a social media user has recently shown appreciation for the film by sharing a screenshot of an illegally obtained version. This act prompted producer Yuvaraj Ganesan to respond humorously to the situation.

Originally posted about a scene from the movie, a user named Tourist Family labeled it “Movie of the year”. In response, producer Yuvaraj stated, “It’s like showing appreciation for something that you’ve watched illegally.” This can be interpreted as, “You’re giving praise to something you’ve seen without proper permission,” followed by a weeping emoji.

The Tourist Family movie has generated significant attention due to its remarkable achievement, receiving accolades from notable figures like SS Rajamouli, Dhanush, and Suriya. Notably, Suriya even had a personal meeting with them following the film’s acclaim.

Remarkably, both films featuring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, Retro directed by Karthik Subbaraj and Tourist Family, premiered in Indian cinemas during the same week.

The movie presents the story of a Sri Lankan family seeking improved circumstances in India following their country’s economic downturn. Alongside Sasikumar and Simran, the film spotlights Mithu Jai Shankar and Kamlesh as main characters. Furthermore, it boasts an extensive cast of talented actors such as Yogi Babu, MS Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, Elango Kumaravel, Sreeja Ravi, and several others in significant roles.

The movie Tourist Family had its digital release postponed due to an impressive showing at the box office, according to industry expert Sreedhar Pillai. Originally slated for a digital premiere on May 28, 2025, the film’s online debut has been pushed back.

According to reports, JioHotstar has acquired the streaming rights for this film, but a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet. Since it’s common practice for films to debut on streaming platforms four weeks after their release, there is speculation that the movie might be delayed by a week and could become available for streaming in June instead.
