Top10 Must-Have Greatsword Skills in The First Berserker: Khazan

As a devoted fan of “The First Berserker: Khazan,” I’ve come to appreciate the diverse array of Greatsword skills on offer. Each one has its own niche use, but some truly stand out, becoming essential additions to every player’s repertoire.

While some top-tier Greatsword skills can be found within the core Greatsword skill tree, others demand specific items for equipping to unlock their full potential.

If you’re planning a Greatsword character in the game “The First Berserker: Khazan” for your next game session, it’s essential to decide on the type of Greatsword playstyle that suits you best. Some skills lean towards defense, while others necessitate aggressive strategies and intricate combo execution. The most effective Greatsword skills are acquired by using particular Greatswords and sets of Greatsword-focused equipment.

10. Counterstrike

A Universally Useful Skill For All Occasions

In The First Berserker: Khazan, Counterstrike is a remarkable ability derived from the fundamental Greatsword skill line. This skill serves as an alternative to blocking, pushing opponents away, or if a Brink Guard is successful, it will execute a powerful, instantaneous strike and replenish the spent spirit. Additionally, it can be charged for use even during sustained damage, albeit with slightly reduced effectiveness.

As you progress through Mastery level, Counterstrike can receive additional enhancements at level 26, granting both Chance and Slam abilities to the skill. However, only one of these effects can be active at a time. In my opinion, Slam is generally the better option in many situations, but it’s ideal to have both skills available. After reaching level 34, you should consider the Shift upgrade, which allows you to use Counterstrike during swift attacks and potent blows.

9. Giant Hunt

Ideal For Large Enemies

As a devoted admirer, I can confidently say that the Giant Hunt skill ranks among the best for wielding the Greatsword, as it significantly boosts damage against larger adversaries. With this skill, Khazan soars aloft and impales the Greatsword deep into the enemy’s head, making it particularly advantageous when facing off against colossal opponents like The First Berserker: Khazan’s notorious Volbaino. In essence, Giant Hunt is a formidable boss-slaying ability that doesn’t necessitate any unique gear to wield its power effectively.

In summary, you can enhance this ability to inflict even more harm for an extra Spirit charge, and Khazan will execute impressive acrobatics, such as delivering additional blows, charging ahead, and jumping off the enemy. It’s advisable to employ the Leap upgrade during endgame battles, particularly against Hismar the dragon boss, since he is susceptible to significant damage from a skillfully executed Giant Hunt attack.

8. Mad Dash

A Devourer Of Darkness Specialty

For this skill to work, make sure you have the Devourer of Darkness Greatsword armed. Trust me, it’s definitely worth it! When fully charged, you’ll execute two spinning strikes and a subsequent spin and jump attack, both causing immense damage and knocking down opponents. Interestingly, this ability is accessible exclusively with the DoD sword, allowing for a delightful combination with various other armors in “The First Berserker: Khazan”.

Skill Requirement
Mad Dash
  • Requires Mastery Level 34
  • Needs Devourer of Darkness Greatsword Equipped
  • Costs 1 Skill Point

The Devourer of Darkness gear set offers an exclusive advantage known as Mad Dash. Wearing the entire set grants you a poison enhancement for your ferocious strikes and an augmented poison effect against opponents. Furthermore, it unlocks the next superior skill on the list – Ghost Arm Block: Overpower.

7. Ghost Arm Block: Overpower

Ghost Arm Block Is Essential & OP, Literally

Among the crucial and mighty abilities of the Greatsword, Ghost Arm Block stands out as it allows Khazan to defend while building a strong strike simultaneously. The skill benefits significantly from various enhancements, yet none compare to the superior upgrade for Ghost Arm – the one derived from the Devourer of Darkness armor set mentioned earlier. This complete set grants Overpower, which instantly prepares follow-up attacks after a successful Ghost Arm Block, and if you employ a Fury attack, it won’t consume a Fury charge.

Using this combination strategically yields incredibly destructive outcomes. With careful timing, you’ll be able to endure numerous charged assaults without depleting your Fury charges, and by synchronizing Fury attacks, you can inflict colossal damage in a single combo.

6. Phantom Judgement

A Soul-Eating Skill For All Weapons

Phantom Judgement is an exceptional ability that works across all three weapon categories in Khazan. To access it for any particular weapon, make sure you’ve equipped the full Soul Eater gear along with your chosen weapon. In this scenario, we’ll be using the Soul-Cleaving Greatsword, but both the Soul Eater Spear and Dual Wield have similar skills associated with them.

With Phantom Judgement, you can restart an enemy’s exhaustion timer, enabling you to deal tremendous damage as bosses remain immobilized. This skill is categorized under Swift Attacks and is particularly beneficial for mid-game boss encounters where you may experience difficulty.

5. Volcanic Wrath

A Unique Chaos-Ridden Skill

Among the sword sets I adore in the game, the Chaos-Ridden set stands out as one of my favorites due to its unique feature: when fully equipped, it allows you to use the skill called Volcanic Wrath. Volcanic Wrath consumes a Fury charge to release a series of up to five powerful attacks, and with each additional Fury charge, you can continue this chain by linking multiple attacks together.

Skill Requirement
Volcanic Wrath
  • Requires Chaos-Ridden Set
  • Costs 1 Skill Point

If you opt for a powerful strike or run out of energy to keep attacking, you’ll deliver the final, devastating blow. This move will probably deplete the enemy’s stamina and health faster than ever before. The Chaos-Ridden Set offers extra advantages when wielding a Greatsword, such as remarkable buffs that will significantly boost your Brink Guard abilities.
To create the Chaos-Ridden Set at the blacksmith in “The First Berserker: Khazan”, you’ll need the Chaos-Ridden Scroll. You can obtain this scroll during the “Final Conquest” mission in the Abandoned Citadel.

4. Titanic Descent: Eruption

A Neglected Greatsword Unique Banger

To gain access to the Titanic Descent move in your standard Greatsword skill tree, you’ll need to advance your mastery level to 18. This basic dash-and-slash attack is a staple for any aggressive Greatsword build, but it can be significantly improved by equipping the Neglected Greatsward. The Neglected Greatsword is a component of the Ashen Wolf set, but you’ll also need to accumulate nine Netherworld Energy charges if that aspect interests you as well.

When you execute the Titanic Descent move, the Eruption upgrade causes a wide-area effect on the ground below, repeatedly striking your opponents. For just one spirit charge, this ability makes the Neglected Greatsword a valuable asset to keep handy.

3. Furious Swipe: Agility

A Merciful & Deadly Greatsword Skill

Regardless of your skill list, it’s essential that Furious Swipe is included for your Greatsword abilities. However, when you wield a top-tier Greatsword of Mercy, you’ll gain access to the Agility enhancement. In its fundamental form, Furious Swipe entails a dodge in a designated direction, followed by a potent spinning slice. While executing this move, you will momentarily become invulnerable, and performing a Brink Dodge will replenish the spent spirit.

Skill Requirement
Furious Swipe: Agility
  • Requires Mastery Level 34
  • Furious Swipe: Pursuit unlocked
  • Greatsword of Mercy equiped

At Mastery Level 18, the Pursuit skill enhances this talent by enabling you to seamlessly transition from a Furious Swipe into a dodge attack. But when equipped with the Greatsword of Mercy, attacks can be charged immediately following a Furious Swipe. Furthermore, using spirit skills becomes instantaneous without needing an extra spirit charge. This powerful weapon can be obtained as a random loot from various in-game enemies and is one of the components of the Bishop’s basic three-piece armor set.

2. Scorching Earth

A Fugitive Mage Destroyer Skill

The Scorching Earth ability, exclusive to the Fugitive Mage’s Greatsword, unleashes a massive explosion followed by a powerful slash. This attack generates an area of effect (AoE) on the ground below you and has a wide swing radius. Acquire this skill and its accompanying weapon by defeating Bellerian, a challenging boss encountered in late-game content.

The Fugitive Mage collection is equipped with the Scorching Earth bonus, boosting Heart Piercer and Armor Breaker abilities. You’ll acquire the Fugitive Mage’s Scroll during the “Atlante the Precise” mission in Wastus Canyon. To craft the whole set, you’ll need to collect the Hermit’s Enchanted Stone repeatedly. Unlike the full set, Scorching Earth can be activated with just the Greatsword of Mercy, and it can be used with various armor combinations.

1. Mortal Blow & Inner Fury

Because I Couldn’t Choose Just One

I found it challenging to choose between Mortal Blow and Inner Fury as my preferred Greatsword skills in Khazan, since they are both exceptionally powerful when upgraded. Mortal Blow, particularly with the Murderous upgrade, becomes an exceptional all-round damage dealer, especially when combined with a Savage Momentum attack. The Murderous upgrade is exclusive to the Sentinel’s Greatsword, which belongs to the Crimson Fiend set and has the chance to be obtained from defeating various enemies.

Conversely, Inner Fury stands out as a highly efficient Area of Effect (AoE) ability for the Greatsword. Once upgraded with Swift, it proves beneficial in almost any scenario you encounter. This skill unleashes a blast from below that not only pulverizes nearby enemies but also boosts your charging speed for 15 seconds. Additionally, the skill can be charged to amplify its damage, and it’s accessible as a basic ability at level 18, making it one of the strongest Greatsword skills you can acquire early in the game.
