Top Star Plans AEW Return with Kenny Omega

As a long-time fan who’s witnessed the golden era of professional wrestling, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation that rivals the excitement of a kid on Christmas Eve. The return of Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi, the Golden Lovers, is something I’ve been eagerly waiting for. Their chemistry in the ring is like none other, and their matches have always left me spellbound.

As a gamer (or pro wrestling fan), I’d put it this way: Hey there! It’s me, ex-AEW World Champ Kenny Omega, once a part of The Elite crew. For months now, I’ve been away from the ring action. You see, I’ve been grappling with diverticulitis, which has kept me on the sidelines since last December. My last tussle in AEW was against Ethan Page, who’s now holding the NXT title over at WWE.

Even though Kenny Omega had been out of action for a while, he came back to AEW a few months ago. On the May 1st episode of Dynamite, Omega reappeared and was confronted by Kazuchika Okada. Unfortunately, Jack Perry and The Young Bucks attacked Omega, administering an EVP Trigger. Subsequently, Kenny Omega had to be carried out of the arena on a stretcher after this brutal attack.

Despite staying active, Kenny Omega is currently unable to participate in competitions and has a scheduled surgery coming up. There’s talk that he might make a comeback by the end of this year. Meanwhile, Kota Ibushi, who used to team up with Omega in NJPW, has shared some recent updates about his own status within the promotion.

On the November 15th, 2023 episode of AEW’s Dynamite, Ibushi was last seen. Although he’s been away from All Elite Wrestling, he intends to make a comeback and hopes to reappear alongside Omega.

Kota Ibushi plans to return with Kenny Omega

Last year during the Blood & Guts battle between The Elite and Blackpool Combat Club, Kota Ibushi made his AEW debut. He teamed up with Konosuke Takeshita and Pac. With one member of The Elite missing in action, Ibushi stepped in to assist them. His significant contribution was instrumental in securing their triumph over their adversaries.

After making several appearances in AEW, Ibushi took a break from the promotion starting last November. However, he has now announced that he will compete at the DDT Pro Wrestling event on August 25th. It’s worth noting that AEW has given him permission to participate in this event. Furthermore, Ibushi considers AEW as his home and also mentioned his plans for a return with his former tag team partner Kenny Omega, via platform X (previously known as Twitter).

The tag team of Omega and Ibushi, often referred to as the Golden Lovers, have consistently given remarkable performances in their matches. It’s exciting to speculate about the roles that Tony Khan might assign to them when Omega comes back.
